Lab Assistant

Job Title: Histology Lab AssistantJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Histology Lab Assistant to join our team. The role involves handling clinical lab specimens, preparing them for testing, and ensuring the efficient functioning of laboratory operations. Responsibilities + Pull samples out of storage or walk-in fridges and bring them to technicians for retesting. + Scan samples into the tracking system and manage data entry of specimen and patient information. + Work with paraffin wax blocks and biopsies. + Receive and sort clinical lab specimens. + Prepare specimens for testing and analysis. + Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance. + Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues. + Replenish test bench supplies as needed. + Maintain a clean and safe work environment. + Complete record logs and perform other administrative duties as requested. + Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards. Essential Skills + Experience in a medical or laboratory setting (academic experience is acceptable). + High school diploma or GED. + Ability to stand for the majority of the shift. + Comfortable handling human samples. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Must be at least 18 years old. + Willingness to work weekends for overtime if needed. Work Environment You will work alongside another lab assistant within a team of 21 in the histology lab. The work schedule is from 10 AM to 6:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime on weekends. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, and you will be supported by excellent trainers and leadership. This role offers the chance to transition to a Technologist position with a significant raise if performance standards are met. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Holyoke, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.75 - $20.75/hr.
