Job Description The Catapult team is a SecDevOps Team focused specifically on building and supporting enterprise solutions for migration of data between Sovereign Realms. Our team leverages Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) best practices to develop scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. We are seeking a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to join our team within the Oracle Government Defense Intelligence (GDI) division. Who We Are At Oracle Government Defense Intelligence (GDI), we build and operate secure cloud capabilities for mission-critical government workloads. We move with urgency, operate at cloud scale, and maintain a high bar for security and reliability. Our engineers design and run critical systems that support government missions, including solutions for air-gapped regions. Responsibilities Our Senior engineers are technical leaders in our organization. They work independently and provide technical leadership to their organizations SDEs as well as with the architects across the commercial cloud. This is a high-visibility role that will impact all aspects of the technical patterns for operating the cloud in our air-gapped realms. You must be experienced in developing and operating high-scale services, with an understanding of how to make cloud-scale services resilient, secure, and maintainable. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, have a passion for mentoring junior engineers as well as collaborating with the most senior architects; someone who knows how to balance speed and quality with iterative and incremental improvements. You will help define and enforce standards and best practices for software development within OCI. Your experience integrating complex, large-scale tooling into US Government technology ecosystems will fast-track operational efficiencies. You understand operational excellence and possess the know-how to instill a culture of ownership within your organization. You are a skilled communicator u2013 an effective champion with OCI service teams for integration and operational optimization of solutions into the Oracle National Security Realms (ONSR) environment. Your designs and technical contributions will influence the profitability and scalability of OCIu2019s government cloud solutions. u00b7 Architect and Design: Lead the design and architecture of microservices that support distributed systems, handling data egress and integration between multiple realms. Drives operational readiness & excellence of their features & subsystems. u00b7 Build Distributed Systems: Develop and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure distributed systems to support real-time data processing for analytics platforms. u00b7 Coding: Leverages industry best practices to writes correct, secure, maintainable, robust code and appropriate tests. Drives design of their features & subsystems. u00b7 Data Pipeline Optimization: Create efficient and resilient data egress pipelines, ensuring seamless data flow and aggregation across OCI realms. u00b7 Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams, to ensure alignment with business goals and infrastructure needs. u00b7 Problem Solving: Identify bottlenecks, optimize performance, and troubleshoot issues within distributed systems and data flows. u00b7 Mentorship and Leadership: Operating independently, you mentor junior engineers, promoting best practices in software engineering, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure. u00b7 Operations: Trusted to serve as Tier2 or specialized escalation point for operations events. Leads deep dives into events during calls and in support of root cause analysis. Serves as primary point of contact for resolving complex operations issues. Develops new metrics and dashboards to improve situational awareness. Leads operational assessments for complex systems ensuring operational issues and potential failure modes are accounted for. Participates in cross-organizational programs for assisting with guidance, standards and best practices for operations, resiliency and availability. u00b7 Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and innovations in cloud architecture, distributed systems, and data engineering to continuously improve our services. Basic Qualifications u00b7 BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding, or equivalent practical experience. u00b7 6+ years of software development experience in distributed/cloud environments. u00b7 Experience with object-oriented languages, specifically Java and Javascript. u00b7 Demonstrated experience building and operating resilient, production-grade services at scale. u00b7 Strong understanding of service design trade-offs across security, scalability, availability, and performance. u00b7 Ability to communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams, presentations). Preferred Qualifications u00b7 Experience leading technical design and implementation across cross-functional teams. u00b7 Expertise in RESTful APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architecture patterns. u00b7 Experience with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern CI/CD practices. u00b7 Strong production operations background, including observability, incident management, and reliability improvement. u00b7 Familiarity with networking fundamentals and Linux internals in cloud environments. u00b7 U.S. Citizenship with active US Government security clearance (TS/SCI w/ Poly) at hire. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
