Entry Level Mechanical Insulator

Mechanical Insulator $18-$20/hour (based on experience) Location: Waterloo, IA _this role may include some overnight_ _travel at times_ Schedule: Mondayu2013Thursday Four 10u2011hour shifts (3u2011day weekends) Job Summary We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Insulator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is reliable, safetyu2011focused, and eager to learn or further develop their skills in the insulation trade. You will work alongside a small, experienced crew installing and fabricating insulation for piping, ductwork, mechanical systems, and equipment at commercial and industrial job sites. Long-term opportunity: Our tenured foreman is planning to retire in Fall 2026, and the company is looking to train the right individual to grow into a leadership role over time. Key Responsibilities + Install, repair, and replace insulation on pipes, ductwork, boilers, tanks, and mechanical systems + Measure, cut, and fit insulation materials including fiberglass, mineral wool, foam, and elastomeric insulation + Apply protective coverings such as aluminum jacketing, PVC jacketing, or canvas + Read and interpret basic job specifications, work orders, and blueprints + Safely operate common hand and power tools + Maintain a clean and safe worksite at all times + Communicate effectively with crew leaders and team members + Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards + Travel to job sites as required, including occasional overnight stays Required Tools (Day One Requirement) Employees will be sent home after safety training if tools are not present. + Steelu2011toed boots + Steak knife (serrated blade) + Utility knife + Tape measure + Scissors + Channel locks + Tin snips Qualifications & Skills + Mechanically inclined + Prior experience in insulation, construction, HVAC, or mechanical trades preferred, but not required (willing to train) + Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders or in confined spaces + Able to read a tape measure + Comfortable working at heights ranging from a 6u2019 ladder up to a 60u2019 boom lift (proper PPE provided) + Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship + Valid driveru2019s license and reliable transportation to the shop or job sites + Positive attitude and strong work ethic + Willingness to travel overnight when required Why work here? + All permanent employees started through a staffing firmu2014proven path to fullu2011time employment + Clear opportunity for advancement into leadership or management with time and dedication + Most work is performed after the building shell is complete, limiting exposure to the elements + Four 10u2011hour shifts = threeu2011day weekends every week Travel & Per Diem + Companyu2011paid hotels for overnight travel + Meal per diem provided during travel ($15u2013$20 depending on project) + Most work is local; overnight travel is projectu2011dependent Work Environment + Commercial and industrial construction job sites + Typically working in crews of 2u20135 employees + Strong teamu2011based environment with direct communication Dress Code + Steelu2011toed boots + Jeans + Tu2011shirt or sweatshirt Schedule & Hours + Mondayu2013Thursday, typically 6:00 AM u2013 4:30 PM + Start/stop times may vary by project + Overtime available on Fridays + Rare Saturdays (not required) Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterloo, IA.
