The University of Marylandu2019s Francis King Carey School of Law is welcoming applications for an energetic, entrepreneurial self-starter to join the admissions team as an Assistant Director.The position will have an emphasis on JD recruitment, communications, data reporting, and technology efficiency aspects of the admissions office, including the graduate law programs. The Admissions Office oversees the recruitment and enrollment for Maryland Carey Lawu2019s prestigious law programs for JD, LLM, and MSL students and offers a fun, friendly and dynamic atmosphere which values its team membersu2019 ideas and allows for ownership over individual processes. Maryland Carey Law is located in downtown Baltimore, Maryland, one of the most-affordable east coast cities, and is a short walk from the Inner Harbor and other historic neighborhoods all while only a 40 minute train ride from the nationu2019s capital. The Assistant Director supports all aspects of the JD admissions and recruiting functions, such as attending recruitment fairs, coordinating prospect and applicant outreach efforts, managing applicant visits, arranging, planning and implementing on-campus and off-campus events, application review, applicant interviewing, and other back-end admissions work as needed. This position requires regional, national and international travel, excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, ability to use sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in a professional setting, technology and data reporting skills, and the ability to use data to support the planning of outreach activities and events. The Assistant Director must be able and willing to travel as needed and to incur travel expenses for reimbursement. This position requires some weekend and evening work for recruitment and admissions events. Exempt regular staff receive a generous PAID leave package that includes over 4 weeks of vacation accrued each year, 16 paid holidays, 3 personal leave days, unlimited accrual of sick time, and comprehensive health insurance; professional learning and development programs; tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any University System of Maryland school; and flexible work schedules and teleworking options (if applicable per job). /UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. / /All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland./ PRIMARY DUTIES Recruitment, Outreach, and Engagement Assist with the oversight, implementation, and participation of all outreach and engagement activities relating to new student recruitment, including: Recruiting travel to represent Maryland Carey Law at regional, national and international events, which includes speaking to prospective students and also speaking at panel events. Travel often includes weekends and/or evenings. Outreach initiatives, including hosting panel events, webinars, chat sessions, and regular phone and email communication with prospective students. All on-campus and off-campus Admissions events. Counseling to prospective students regarding all aspects of the law school application process. Application review and evaluation Review and evaluate hundreds of application files on a timely basis. Conduct a large number of admission interviews for the JD program. Communications and Data Reporting Create, implement, and monitor a communications plan for Admissions Officeu2019s JD, MSL, and LLM programs, including data gathering for digital campaigns Work collaboratively with the Office of Marketing on digital and other advertising initiatives Assist with the creation and implementation of communications efforts, including email campaigns Collect, monitor, and report admissions data as needed at the direction of the Associate Dean of Admissions Utilize technology to maximize efficiency for the Admissions Office Keep current on updates and best practices for the CRMs, including Unite and Ellucian Additional Admissions Support Oversee/assist with work study students to support with admissions functions. Generate database reports as assigned. Application processing and database support as needed. Assist with the recruitment initiatives for the Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Master of Science in Law (MSL) programs as needed. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education:Bachelors in related field. JD or graduate degree preferred. Experience:Two (2) years in admissions, student enrollment or a related field. Experience with Unite, Ellucian, and other technology tools, such as AI, strongly preferred. Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education. u00b7 Driveru2019s License required. u00b7 Ability and willingness to travel regionally, nationally and sometimes internationally u00b7 Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required u00b7 Ability to lift/move materials up to 20 lbs during eventsu2002u2002u2002u2002 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of best practices in law school admissions. Leadership and team building skills. Advanced level of knowledge and comfort with multiple technology platforms, including Microsoft Office, AI tools, CRMs, and social media. Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.
