We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Space Systems Mechanical Engineering Team Lead to join our team in Englewood, CO, working on satellite systems. This is an exciting opportunity supporting the development of space-based payloads, sensors, and satellite systems. This engineer will manage a group of mechanical engineers with varying experience levels, from senior to recent graduate, providing strong leadership, mentoring, and technical support. This manager will focus on supporting the continued development of space systems out of the Englewood, CO office. This is a functional leadership opportunity, leading the local team while also contributing as a lead engineer on a program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Manage professional and technical performance of staff to ensure quality, business, and financial objectives are achieved. + Provide leadership and managerial support to team members, including performance management, annual performance reviews, and salary management for staff. + Support and lead the engineering staff in the analysis, investigation, and resolution of routine engineering problems. + Ensure technical leadership and excellence is maintained by directing and participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required professional and technical talent. + Independently perform challenging engineering work, document findings, communicate results, deliver technical presentations, and support test activities both on and off-site. Design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components and equipment. + Demonstrate strong understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, structural mechanics and dynamics, as well as mechanical hardware design, fabrication techniques, and testing for space and military applications. + Assist with satellite mechanical subsystem level design, including requirement analysis, mission analysis, and design trade-offs. + Maintain strong handle on GD&T, drawing generation, manufacturing, and quality integration. + Lead cross-disciplinary teams as a lead or chief engineer on a program. + Develop innovative and practical solutions to issues arising in design, assembly, integration, and test of satellite systems and payloads. + Perform other duties as assigned or required. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. + Experience in spacecraft hardware testing and test requirements is highly desirable. Familiarity with satellite system life cycle, including development, environmental testing, launch, and operations. + Experience designing, analyzing, building, and testing military systems. Previous experience with optical or flight systems is desired. + Proficiency with CAD and FEA software such as Pro-E/Creo, Solidworks, NASTRAN, or ANSYS is desired. + Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills required to interface effectively across departments, management levels, and with customers and government representatives. + Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex engineering problems. + Professional Engineering License and published works in professional engineering journals are desired. + Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment. Ability to work extended hours and travel as required. + The ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance is required. Active Secret clearance is desired.
