The ideal candidate will have strongexpertise in networking, routing, and security, and thrive in afast-paced environment**Reports to:** Broadband Network Manager (BNM)**Department:** Plant**Classification:** Hourly**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals withdisabilities to perform the essential functions.- Maintain and optimize the ISPs core and access network, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.- Monitor network performance, ensuring uptime, reliability, and minimal latency for customers.- Configure and maintain IP addressing, VLANs, and network security settings.- Conduct regular network audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement improvements.- Manage and troubleshoot issues related to internet connectivity, DNS, DHCP, and other network services.**Security & Compliance:**- Implement and maintain network security policies to protect against cyber threats, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and DDoS mitigation.- Monitor for unauthorized access, network breaches, or unusual traffic patterns.- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.**Network Expansion & Upgrades:**- Assist in planning and deploying new network infrastructure, including fiber, fixed wireless.- Research and recommend improvements to network design, hardware, and software.- Test and deploy firmware/software updates to improve performance and security.**Access to Sensitive Areas and Information**- CPNI and other sensitive customer information- Plant Offices and Tech Warehouses- Plant Budget**General Qualifications**- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).- Certifications (preferred): CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent networking certifications.- Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices.- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VPNs, and QoS.- Experience with network monitoring tools.- Familiarity with security best practices, firewall configurations, and DDoS mitigation.- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently.- Strong communication and documentation skills.**Education and/or Experience**- Working knowledge of fiber optic and wireless broadband technologies.- Experience with VoIP, IPTV, and cloud-based networking solutions.- General knowledge of PSTN network- SIP, GR303, H248, MGCP and VMware- One year of telecommunications experience preferred**Supervisory Responsibility**This position has no supervisory responsibility.**Work Environment**May require occasional travel to other plant locations or vendor sites.Must be able to work outside of standard business hours as needed toaddress urgent issues or complete projects.**Physical Demands**The physical demands described here are representative of those thatmust be met by an employee to successfully perform the essentialfunctions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to talk or hear.
