Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.As a Training Specialist 2 Mental Hygiene you will work in the Education and Training Department and your duties will include:u2022 Leading the planning, organization, and delivery of agency training;u2022 Overseeing the development of curricula by lower level staffu2022 Supervising lower level training specialists, paraprofessional and support staff.u2022 Developing new training initiatives and modifying existing programs based on assessment of program needsu2022 Evaluating trainingu2022 Acting as the organizationu2019s consultant to internal and external programs Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement u2013 Statewide (HELPS) program as a Training Specialist 2 Mental Hygiene if they have 6 years of professional experience developing and delivering major segments of institution and community training programs to improve the knowledge and abilities of those caring for and treating individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities in institutional and community settings.Substitution:An associate's degree can substitute for 2 years of experienceA bachelor's degree can substitute for 4 years of experienceA Master's degree can substitute for 5 years of experienceA doctorate may substitute for 6 years of experienceORCandidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Training Specialist 2 Mental Hygiene eligible list.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.ORIn accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Training Specialist 2 Mental Hygiene at New York City Childrenu2019s Center.
