Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Sr. Regional Design Manager to join its design team. As a Sr. Regional Design Manager, you will be part of a global engineering leadership team, comprised of highly effective Architects, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Security and Control Engineers. AWS self-performs engineering on the majority of our capacity delivery projects. This unique vantage point allows the Design Managers to maintain a close connection with project details and drive project outcomes. You will have impact on the design direction and ability to improve design delivery for an entire region, while establishing design procedures and protocols for the development of future systems. Key job responsibilities u2022 Lead project teams of discipline leads to deliver quality and globally consistent DC designs and maintaining a high level of quality within budget and schedule. u2022 Able to influence internal stakeholders, internal customers (operations), and external consultants to address program wide design changes u2022 Manage escalations u2022 identify multi-disciplinary design decisions u2022 Understanding of design development, design change management, permitting (working with AHJs), and implementation (working with CMs/RFIs/Submittals) lifecycle u2022 Project management skills (critical path schedule management, risk management, quality management, cost management) u2022 Design consultant management including procurement, contracting, deliverable management, and payments u2022 Effectively and consistently communicate with AWS Leadership and external project partners, including the creation, tracking & reporting of metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality Throughout the lifecycle of the project. u2022 Conversant in Amazon LPs. u2022 Manage competing priorities. u2022 Drive speed, quality, and simplification by eliminating rework loops, reducing and automating manual work through standardization and automation. u2022 Create global best practice documentation and facilitate sharing across the globe. u2022 Ability to motivate others to achieve impeccable quality in an explosive growth and deadline-driven environment. u2022 Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants.
