Position Status:Full timeShift:12 Hour Day Shift (United States of America)Hours per week:36Job InformationExemption Status: Non-ExemptA Brief OverviewThe Express Care clinics are a specialty within the nursing profession that encompasses the care of individuals across the life span who present with acute physical, emotional, or psychological alterations of health. The Express Care LPN responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patient assessment and triage, excellent communication and customer service skills, educating and answering patient questions during visit and at discharge. The Express Care LPN rooms patients, takes vital signs and reports patient concerns or pertinent observations to provider. The Express Care LPN is responsible for coordination of tests and services, assisting providers with procedures, and accurate documentation of all patient related activities. The Express Care LPN responds to emergent patient situations and provides patient care under the direction of the provider. The Express Care LPN may also perform procedures and testing under indirect physician supervision. Responsible to provide a safe environment for his/her assigned patients; to complete the assigned work; and to document and report any pertinent observations as a result of the interventions. PreferredSkills and AbilitiesDemonstrates consistent use of Standard Precautions and proper body mechanics and follows OSHA guidelines (Required proficiency)Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein. (Required proficiency)Demonstrates excellent understanding and use of the EMR (Required proficiency)Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. (Required proficiency)Licenses and CertificationsLicensed Practical Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. RequiredBasic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.What you will doAssist with checking in, examinations and procedures.Administer prescribed medications and treatments. Clarify medication orders and refills to pharmacies as directed by providers.Triage patient telephone calls, evaluating the physical and psychosocial health status of the patient.Coordinate patient services to include: lab tests, point of care testing, x-rays, diagnostic procedures, consults, home care, and acute care admissions.Provide patient education regarding medications, lab tests, x-rays, and procedures. Notify patients of test results and provider disposition.Document medical information using the appropriate electronic applications and/or forms.Assess patient rooms and surrounding areas for safety issues.
