Network Engineer

Description Our client is in the process of migrating their biomed applications from a legacy vendor managed network to internal network managed environment. They need to bring in a consultant to assist their internal team with this ongoing effort. This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise in design, implementation and troubleshooting, as well as the physical ability to perform onsite rack-and-stack installations. Key Responsibilities: + Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols including EIGRP, BGP, and static routing + Configure and manage layer 2 switching technologies, including VLANs, STP, EtherChannel and 802.1Q trunking + Implement and manage Palo Alto Network Firewalls, including HA, security policies, NAT and Panorama management + Perform network upgrades, migrations, and cutovers + Monitor network performance and availability using SNMP, NetFlow, syslog, and other monitoring tools + Create and maintain network documentation including diagrams, IP address management, and change records + Coordinate with facilities and data center teams for cooling, power, and physical access requirements + Travel to multiple sites within the Health System (Nassau and Suffolk Counties in Long Island, Manhattan, Staten Island, Northern Westchester) for physical rack-and-stack installation of network equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + The Network Engineer provides first level, on-site and remote network support including diagnosing, configuring and documenting assigned network problems in highly available clinical environment for assigned site(s). + They respond to network issues affecting clinical applications. + Performs first level diagnostic on-site and remote support for network problems and responds to issues affecting clinical applications + Configures network devices, including routers and switches in a highly available clinical environment + Racks and stacks network equipment and performs testing and tracing of network cables + Documents network changes and implementations + Works with Wide Area Network (WAN) and internet carriers during implementations and outages Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of New Hyde Park, NY.
