Job Title: Field Services Engineer Job Location- Onsite [5 days a week]- Waltham, MA, USA _Please note, this role is not able to offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future_ We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Deskside Support Engineer / Field Service Engineer to provide comprehensive technical support to internal users and clients across both remote and on-site environments. This role requires hands-on expertise in end-user computing, device lifecycle management, and modern endpoint management solutions, along with exceptional communication and service delivery skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting day-to-day IT operations, including user onboarding, hardware and software troubleshooting, mobile device management, conference room technology, and IT asset management. A strong understanding of enterprise tools such as JAMF, Microsoft Intune, SCCM, ServiceNow , and imaging technologies ( PXE, Autopilot, macOS imaging ) is essential to succeed in this role. In this role, you will + Deliver end-to-end technical support to users via phone, email, remote tools, and in-person engagements, including walk-in Tech Lounge support. + Manage user onboarding and offboarding activities, including account provisioning, device setup, application deployment, and access configuration. + Deploy, configure, and manage Windows, macOS, and mobile devices using enterprise MDM and endpoint management tools such as Intune, Jamf, and SCCM . + Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, OS, and peripheral issues across desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices, ensuring minimal downtime. + Provide comprehensive support for printers and conference room technologies, including video conferencing systems, displays, projectors, and audio equipment. + Perform system imaging, device refreshes, upgrades, replacements, and break/fix activities using PXE boot, Intune Autopilot, and macOS imaging processes. + Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, service requests, assets, and configurations within the ticketing system and ServiceNow CMDB . + Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and asset lifecycle management processes while participating in on-call and after-hours support rotations as required What youu2019ll need to succeed (required skills) + Bacheloru2019s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). + Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience in a deskside, field service, or end-user support role. + Strong working knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems . + Proven experience troubleshooting hardware, software, OS, and connectivity issues. + Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365 (Office 365), and remote support tools . + Solid knowledge of MDM and endpoint management platforms such as JAMF, Intune, and SCCM . + Familiarity with IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes and configuration management systems such as ServiceNow CMDB . + Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. + Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and comfort working in a fast-paced, user-centric environment. + Customer-first mindset with a strong commitment to service quality and user satisfaction. Preferred skills: what will help you stand out + Industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA A+ , Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) , or equivalent. + Experience working within ITIL-based service management environments . + Basic to intermediate understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting fundamentals. Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $50,000 to $65,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizantu2019s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizantu2019s applicable plans.
