Maintenance Mechanic

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining a variety of equipment including hydraulic systems, gearboxes, conveyor equipment, vibrating feeders, hammer mills, cranes, and mechanical drives. The role involves using hand tools, measuring devices, and power tools such as drill presses, saws, grinders, and more. The candidate will engage in welding, burning, and metal joining, as well as operate cranes and mobile equipment. The mechanic will also read blueprints and fill out necessary paperwork. Responsibilities + Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, gearboxes, conveyors, and other industrial equipment. + Use hand and power tools, including drill presses, saws, grinders, and more. + Perform welding, burning, and metal joining tasks. + Operate cranes and mobile equipment. + Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and manuals. + Troubleshoot, dismantle, repair, and assemble industrial machinery and structures. + Inspect, test, and maintain piping systems and associated fixtures. + Erect and disassemble scaffolding as needed. Essential Skills + Experience in a heavy industrial environment such as steel, aluminum, or nuclear industries. + Proficiency in hydraulics, gearboxes, conveyor systems, and pneumatics. + 3-5+ years of experience in a relevant field. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in welding and fabrication. + Previous experience in Navy (nuclear), foundry, paper mill, or aluminum industries. + Familiarity with bucket elevators, screw jacks, and rotary valve feeders. Work Environment The work environment is very heavy industrial, often dirty and non-climate controlled, with some areas being extremely hot. Safety gear such as steel-toed boots, hard hats, and safety glasses are required. The maintenance team operates on a rotating shift schedule, including both day and night shifts, with potential for mandatory overtime. The facility supports a collaborative culture where mechanics work alongside electricians to solve issues. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Moncks Corner, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $86320.00/yr. - 9.58% shift differential once they move onto swing shift (Approximately an extra 3/hr)- They can test every 6 months to test into higher tech level and get pay increase- Only non-union smelter facility in the U.S- 401K matches 6%. Benefits start on Day 1 (Full medical, dental and vision coverage u2013 very competitive benefits and multiple options. You can get full copy during interview)- $300 tool stipend each year- All uniforms and PPE are provide by company, including prescription safety glasses- Free clinic onsite for check ups or any issues that happen during the day- Quarterly bonus up to 10% of what they have made in total that quarter. This is based on company profitability. They currently are averaging 4-6% per quartero Quarter bonus is tied to attendance.- HUGE on promoting from within. They have a ton of supervisors/managers who have been there for 30-40 years and nearing retirement.
