Job Title: Unit Manager - Chemical Plant Location: Houston, TX Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 Contractor Work Model: Onsite Security Clearance: Must hold a valid TWIC Responsibilities + Provide strategic and operational direction for the Houston facility's production departments, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. + Manage daily activities across the plantu2019s production units, maintaining high performance standards and operational reliability. + Serve as the primary backup for the Production Supervisor to ensure continuous coverage. + Oversee production in a unionized environment, ensuring labor relations and employee activities comply with regulations and standards. + Champion change management and support initiatives driven by corporate and local management teams. + Drive unit efficiency by maximizing throughput and optimizing fuel/burning rates. + Manage fixed cost budgets within the assigned area to ensure fiscal accountability. + Lead planning and execution of facility Turnarounds (T/A), routine shutdowns, and mechanical work. + Utilize performance standards and u201cStop Worku201d authority to promote excellence and accountability. + Ensure 100% compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) standards, maintaining all documentation for audits. + Coordinate with continuous improvement teams to refine operational protocols and performance standards. + Provide training and resources to production personnel to ensure safety and environmental compliance. Requirements + Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering or comparable technical education and industrial leadership experience. + At least 5 years of experience in chemical processing or sulfuric acid plant operations. + 3 to 5 years of direct management experience of production teams. + Mandatory experience working within a unionized plant environment. + Strong proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite. + Ability to apply engineering principles to troubleshoot operational issues. + Effective organizational skills to manage projects and maintenance activities. + Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to motivate and lead a diverse workforce. + Must hold a valid TWIC.
