The Director, Digestive Health Institute is responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial oversight of digestive health services across hospital and community-based settings. This role leads budget management, program planning, and resources allocation while ensuring high-quality, cost-effective care and compliance with organizational policies and professional standards. Using data-driven insights, the Director, Digestive Health Institute drives service line growth, access, and operational efficiency, leading process improvements, system implementations, and program development. The role partners closely with physician leadership and senior stakeholders to align clinical strategy, research, and innovation with organizational goals, while advancing quality, safety, patient experience, and outcomes. As a key member of the leadership team, the Director, Digestive Health Institute mentor's leaders, fosters a collaborative and high performing culture, and strengthens referral networks and service offerings. This position plays a critical role in positioning the organization as a leading destination for comprehensive digestive health care across multiple sites. Essential Duties: + Operations, Growth and Management u2022 Provide operational leadership for ambulatory practices, supporting shared governance and ensuring high-quality, coordinated, and patient-centered care delivery. u2022 Partner with executive, clinical, and physician leadership to align care models, policies, and procedures with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. u2022 Oversee access and clinic operations, including scheduling, staffing models, room utilization, and patient flow, to optimize provider productivity and patient experience. u2022 Coordinate nursing services and staffing plans, including contingency planning, to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant clinic operations. u2022 Monitor and manage space, equipment, and resource utilization; collaborate with Facilities and Clinical Engineering to ensure operational readiness. u2022 Support practice growth through space planning, facility expansion, acquisitions, and integration initiatives, including participation in due diligence and transition planning. u2022 Maintain effective communication and serve as a liaison between ambulatory services, department leadership, and medical group partners to ensure alignment and continuity of care. + Financial u2022 Lead development and ongoing management of annual operating budgets, analyzing variances and leveraging financial data to improve care delivery efficiency. u2022 Partner with clinic leadership and finance teams to develop site-specific budgets and ensure alignment with organizational policies and standards. u2022 Oversee expense, payroll, and financial reporting processes to ensure compliance with HR, regulatory, and financial policies, providing guidance and training as needed. u2022 Ensure timely and accurate charge capture, collections, and on-site cashiering controls, including appropriate separation of duties and reconciliation practices. + Leadership u2022 Promotes effective communication and collaborative working relationships amongst the service line, physicians, and departments. Ensure open lines of communication amongst the staff, physicians, and other departments. Serves as a coach and mentor. u2022 Responsible for identifying and implementing cross-training and changes in staff design and task distribution which promotes a more effective method of service delivery, ensuring that the care is safe, legal and is customer service oriented. Facilitates the training of staff and physicians and assure we optimize the use of software platforms and digital technologies + Human Resources u2022 Works with Human Resources to ensure that a workable staffing plan is in place for areas reporting to his/her position so that the areas remain able to delivery good care. u2022 Responsible for selecting and retaining qualified clinical and administrative staff to carry out the service lines goals in accordance with USC Care Medical Group philosophy and the organizational objectives. u2022 Ensures management staff understand basic wage and hour laws, federal and state local laws and regulations and work with human resources to ensure compliance. Provide support and training to leaders regarding union contracts. u2022 Work with USC Care Medical group in understanding staffing needs of organization; responsible for all employee activity such as hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, compensation and performance management. u2022 Conduct regular meetings with leadership team and participate in appropriate huddles + Business Development u2022 Responsible for business development activities for the service line including hospital collaborations, physician outreach, continuing medical education programs and community outreach. u2022 Oversees existing and potential joint ventures or partnerships within the service line. u2022 Ensures the implementation of strategic business plans that aligns with the service lineu2019s vision, strategic plans, and goals and monitors performance. + Quality u2022 Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and financial metrics (e.g., TJC, MIPS), including oversight of registration, billing, documentation, and audit readiness. u2022 Policies and procedures are in place to support scope of services. Ensure that each area meets standards of conduct. Coordinate audit reviews, data collection and reporting per organizational policy. u2022 Oversee quality activities working directly with lead clinical team and USC Care Chief Nursing officer; assure timely reports and follow-up. u2022 Displays understanding of governing regulations, Title 22, and JCAHO requirements, defining and maintaining the standards of practice while ensuring consistency with the hospital standards. Contributes to the development and implementation of performance improvement program which complies with JCAHO, Title 22, and other applicable regulatory agencies. + Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: + Req Bacheloru2019s Degree In related field. + Req 5-7 years Operational experience in a healthcare facility preferably with a blend of outpatient and inpatient or ancillary experience. + Req Proficient in MS Office, Outlook and HRMS System. + Req Proficient verbal and written communication skills. + Req Capable of communicating with all levels of employee-administrative to staff. + Req Critical thinking skills. + Req Able to function independently and as a member of a team. + Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills. Preferred Qualifications: + Pref Masteru2019s degree In related field in progress or completed. + Pref 3 years Operational oversight of a GI/Liver Service Line, Ambulatory Surgery or Endoscopy Center, General Surgery Department. Required Licenses/Certifications: + Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) The annual base salary range for this position is $133,120.00 - $219,648.00.
