For more information, go to: ( Description of Job Work Unit This position is located in the Clean Water Compliance and Enforcement Section, Dredge and Fill Protection Unit. The purpose of the Dredge and Fill Protection Unit is to develop and issue dredge and fill authorizations, provide compliance assistance services to the regulated community, and conduct oversight to ensure compliance with various water quality related laws, regulations, and permits that protect public health and the environment. About the position This position exists to provide the support needed to implement HB24-1379, Regulate Dredge & Fill Activities in State Waters, and its implementing Regulation 87. This position will assist with technical aspects of dredge and fill program implementation. This position develops, issues, and manages authorizations for activities that result in the discharge of dredged or fill material into state waters. This includes determining the appropriate authorization pathway and compensatory mitigation requirements. This position serves as a point of contact for questions and guidance related to dredge and fill activities in Colorado. In addition, through desk audits or inspections, this position investigates compliance with the Colorado Water Quality Control Act, Regulation 87, and dredge and fill authorizations to determine the appropriate type of assistance and/or compliance response. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications Five (5) years of water quality or related experience. OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, environmental engineering, hydrology, watershed science or closely-related field. AND One year of water quality related experience. OR A graduate degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, environmental engineering, hydrology, watershed science or closely-related field will substitute for the bachelor's degree and one year of experience.
