Job Summary: Provides basic clerical and administrative support for adepartment. Interacts with diverse populations including the public,visitors, patients, medical staff practitioners and medical centerstaff.Job Description: Essential Responsibilities: Answers telephones and/orgreets visitors/patients. Takes accurate messages or routes call toappropriate person. Provides routine services and assistance asnecessary. Collects, compiles and disseminates information and/or dataaccording to guidelines and established procedures. Compiles anddistributes routine reports following established procedures. Performsroutine clerical duties, such as opening and sorting mail, deliveringand retrieving patient records, photocopying materials and sorting,collating and distributing documents. Organizes and files information,patient files, data, etc. following established procedures. Typesroutine or standardized correspondence and forms as requested and inaccordance to quality standards. Routes documents for signatures orauthorizations. Enters specified data or information into hospital ordepartment systems, databases or spreadsheets accurately. Operatesoffice equipment, such as copiers, fax machines, etc. Monitors andrestocks routine office supplies as necessary. Required Qualifications:High School diploma or GED required. Associate?s degree preferred. 0-1years related work experience required. Basic familiarity withcomputers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-basedapplications. Competencies: Decision Making: Ability to make decisionsthat are based on specific instructions, standard practices andestablished procedures which generally require little or no supervision.Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are routine, somewhatrepetitive and generally solved by following clear directions andprocedures and by identifying opportunities for process dependence of Action: Ability to follow general instructions andprocedures as provided. Work is monitored by supervisor/manager. WrittenCommunications: Ability to read, and write in English in order tounderstand basic safety instructions and take direction fromsupervisors; communicate effectively with patients, families and othermedical center staff; and respond to basic questions. OralCommunications: Ability to understand spoken English in order to followbasic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors;communicate effectively in basic English with patients, families andmedical center staff in response to routine questions. Knowledge:Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts,practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routinesituations. Specialized knowledge not required. Team Work: Ability tointeract respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/orexternal contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information ordeliver services. Customer Service: Ability to demonstrate a positiveattitude and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.Physical Nature of the Job: Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds offorce occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects.Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required onlyoccasionally
