Job Title: Quality Control Lab Technician Job Description The Quality Control Lab Technician will work in a modern ingredient manufacturing laboratory focused on corn starch products. In this role, you ensure product quality and safety by performing rigorous testing and analysis on raw materials and finished products, using a range of analytical instruments and following strict laboratory standards and procedures. Responsibilities + Conduct raw material testing to verify compliance with established quality standards and specifications. + Perform a variety of analytical tests independently and accurately, strictly following established test procedures. + Operate and interpret results from laboratory instruments, including viscosity meters, moisture analyzers, Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) spectrometry, pH meters, moisture balances, and equipment used for protein analysis and viscosity testing. + Carry out wet chemistry techniques and titrations as part of routine quality control testing. + Maintain complete, accurate, and legible test records in accordance with company policies and record-keeping procedures. + Adhere to all safety and quality guidelines, including Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and laboratory safety requirements. + Assist in the development and validation of new testing methods and procedures to support evolving quality needs. + Collaborate with other departments to investigate quality issues, communicate findings, and help implement corrective actions. + Participate in routine equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure the reliability and accuracy of test results. + Support continuous improvement initiatives within the quality control department by identifying opportunities to enhance testing efficiency, accuracy, and documentation. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field. + Experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably within the food or ingredient manufacturing industry. + Hands-on experience with analytical laboratory techniques, including wet chemistry and titration. + Ability to operate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments such as NIR, pH meters, moisture balances, protein analysis equipment, viscosity meters, and related QC instrumentation. + Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow precise procedures and test methods. + Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to maintain accurate and legible documentation. + Familiarity with GMP, GLP, and laboratory safety protocols. + Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. + Ability to consistently work 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. + Ability to work weekends as part of the regular schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Previous quality control or quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. + Experience in microbiology or related laboratory disciplines is beneficial. + Experience supporting continuous improvement or process optimization in a laboratory or production environment. + Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and address quality issues. + Effective communication skills to clearly report test results and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Work Environment This position is based in a recently renovated, clean quality control laboratory within an ingredient manufacturing facility specializing in corn starch products. The role follows a 3rd shift schedule from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., working Wednesday through Sunday once training is complete, with Monday and Tuesday as regular days off. You will work in a controlled lab environment using a range of analytical instruments, including NIR, pH meters, moisture balances, protein analysis equipment, viscosity meters, and other quality control tools. The lab operates under strict GMP, GLP, and safety protocols, fostering a culture of accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
