Grounds Services Technician

Position Number: 010053 Department: Facilities Management (Adm) Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time Months Per Year: 12 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Assist all general services groups. + Moving furniture & event setups around campus. + Pressure washing & soft washing buildings, graffiti removal. + Daily tasks to include: equipment operation, mowing, string trimming, edging, blowing, seeding and fertilizing, watering, irrigation operation and repair, pruning, pesticide application, tree removal, operation of tractors, backhoe, and skid steer, storm clean up. Minimum Experience / Education: Required Minimum Qualifications: Some knowledge of grounds keeping procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Note: Some state job postings state you can qualify by an u2018equivalent combination of education and experience.u2019 If that language appears above, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Preferred Education Skills and Experience: + Experience with pressure wash & soft wash equipment & practices. + Experience with landscaping equipment such as commercial mowers, string trimmers, blowers, etc. + Knowledge in mixing, applying and transporting pesticide chemicals and similar products. + Experience in coordinating and scheduling grounds maintenance work, and ability to act as lead worker on assigned tasks and Grounds Maintenance projects. + Computer experience and knowledge with Google Chrome, Sheets, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
