Build New Hampshire.NHDOT Recruitment BrochureThe State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Traffic, has a full-time vacancy for a Highway Maintainer I or II.SUMMARY:HIGHWAY MAINTAINER I:Assists in performing year-round highway maintenance activities and projects involving operation of vehicles, trucks, manual and specialty labor skills in the operation of hand tools, power tools and motorized equipment used for highway maintenance, construction activities, and for emergency traffic services for the NH State Highway System.HIGHWAY MAINTAINER II:Performs year-round highway maintenance activities involving the operation and maintenance of traffic control devices, mainly in the area of signing and pavement marking and emergency traffic services for the NH State Highway System.YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS:Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:HIGHWAY MAINTAINER I:Education/Experience: 8th grade educationLicense/Certification: Valid drivers licenseOther Requirements:1. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the Department of Transportation.2. Offers of employment are conditional upon the individual obtaining a Commercial Drivers License medical card unless the candidate is currently employed by the State of New Hampshire (if CDL is required after hire).3. Must receive a negative result on a pre-employment urinalysis drug screen in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations and US DOT requirements.4. Must be able to lift/carry material weighing up to 50 lbs. on an intermittent basis.5.
