The Opportunity with McKinstry The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a proactive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) program and culture tailored to a medium-volume, high mix fabrication environment. This role focuses on industrial shop-floor safety where welding, cutting, forming, heavy equipment operation, assembly, material handling, and fabricated product movement are daily activities. This role develops and maintains safety programs that prioritize the health and well-being of employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and driving a proactive and engaged safety culture across all levels and geographic sites of the shop network organization. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements while embedding a culture of safety into all shop operations. The EHS Manager partners with craft, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to anticipate risks, eliminate hazards, and continuously improve EHS performance to achieve the highest standards of safety excellence. _Shop Support_ + Work closely with shop leadership and McKinstry Safety to integrate safety into all aspects of fabrication operations. + Collaborate with shop teams to implement and monitor site-specific safety plans, ensuring alignment with McKinstry Safety Programs. + Conduct shop floor audits, inspections, and evaluations to verify compliance with OSHA standards and company policies. + Support subcontractor safety management by reviewing work activities and providing guidance to ensure safe operations. + Facilitate lessons-learned sessions and provide feedback to shop teams and safety program leaders to enhance program effectiveness. _Safety Program Development & Compliance_ + Design, implement, and manage shop-specific safety programs covering machine guarding, lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, welding and fabrication safety, electrical safety, and heavy lift and material handling procedures. + Lead development and execution of annual safety plans for the shop network. + Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, and other regulatory and industry standards relevant to mechanical and fabricated product manufacturing. + Conduct investigations into incidents and near-misses, including root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions. + Develop and update safety SOPs, hazard control protocols, and training content. + Actively engage in McKinstry safety events and initiatives to enhance organizational safety culture. + Assist in administering McKinstry Safety Programs to minimize risk and ensure compliance with regulations. _Risk Assessment & Hazard Control_ + Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and ergonomic assessments for assembly and heavy material handling operations. + Oversee safe operation of cranes, forklifts, hoists, and other heavy-lift equipment used in fabrication and product movement. + Implement industrial hygiene monitoring for air quality, welding fumes, and noise exposure. _Incident Management & Reporting_ + Lead investigations of near-misses, incidents, and recordable injuries; identify root causes and corrective actions. + Maintain OSHA 300 logs, environmental permits, and internal safety records. + Monitor safety performance metrics, identify trends, and propose solutions to address gaps and improve outcomes. + Manage subject-specific safety initiatives and ensure successful implementation across shop operations. + Report shop safety performance metrics to leadership and corporate EHS. _Training & Culture Building_ + Deliver training on welding and fabrication safety, electrical awareness, hot work permits, PPE, and machinery safety. + Coach supervisors and employees to take ownership of safety in daily work. + Build a culture of
