Job Description: This role focuses on researching, designing, developing, and testing computer and computer-related hardware for commercial, industrial, military, and scientific applications. The Hardware Design Engineer contributes to the full hardware lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through validation and support for manufacturing and installation. The position collaborates closely with cross-functional engineering, design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver robust, high-quality hardware solutions. Responsibilities: + Analyze technical and project information to determine hardware layout plans, including the selection and configuration of computers and peripheral equipment, as well as required modifications. + Assemble and modify existing hardware components and equipment to meet specialized or evolving project needs. + Build, test, and refine product prototypes using both physical working models and theoretical models created through computer simulation. + Evaluate key factors such as required reporting formats, cost constraints, and security needs to determine optimal hardware configurations. + Monitor the functioning of hardware and related equipment and implement necessary modifications to ensure systems operate in conformance with specifications and performance targets. + Support hardware design and validation initiatives in collaboration with internal engineering teams and external manufacturing and supplier partners. + Contribute to product development and manufacturing readiness by providing technical input on design decisions, component selection, and system integration. + Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve issues, improve designs, and ensure high-quality hardware solutions. + Use engineering design software and tools to create, review, and update technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. + Document design decisions, test results, and hardware modifications clearly and accurately to support traceability and knowledge sharing. Skills: + Strong creativity, with the ability to generate and refine innovative hardware solutions. + Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and document technical work clearly. + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for diagnosing issues and optimizing hardware performance. + Ability to work effectively as a team player while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. + Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. + Basic knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems. + Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology in hardware design and development. + Basic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. + Previous experience using computer applications and design software relevant to engineering and hardware design. + Bacheloru2019s degree in engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications: + 5u20137 years of experience in hardware design engineering or a closely related hardware engineering role. + Experience with hardware design in a large-scale technology environment or similarly complex hardware product organization. + Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering, design, manufacturing, and supplier teams. + Experience working with engineering and manufacturing partners to support product development and manufacturing readiness. + Ability to operate independently with minimal ramp time, taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion. + Comfort working on hardware design and validation initiatives across multiple projects or product lines. Work Environment: The role operates within a collaborative engineering environment focused on hardware design and validation for complex products. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering, design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to support product development and manufacturing readiness. The position involves regular use of engineering design software, technical documentation tools, and hardware lab equipment for building and testing prototypes. The work typically follows standard business hours, with flexibility as needed to support project milestones and collaboration with internal and external partners. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Redmond, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
