The eligible list created from this announcement may be used to fill current and future vacancies for a period of up to 6 months. #LI-POST Description of Job About the Work Unit The Fleet Services unit is responsible for the oversight of CDOTu2019s equipment and vehicle assets. This includes both the heavy and light fleets along with the Equipment Management System, fuel management, procurement of CDOT road equipment, road equipment budget, preparation of new equipment, road equipment inventory, Headquarters Motor Pool operations, joint management of CDOTu2019s light fleet with State Fleet Management, and management / administration of CDOTu2019s Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems. About the Position The Heavy Fleet Administrator III position provides comprehensive, real-time expertise and recommendations related to structural, logistical, and hands-on support to CDOT fleet management and field personnel to remedy shortfalls that will result in significantly higher production, availability, and readiness. This position determines, develops, recommends, and coordinates a statewide fleet strategy for the ongoing management of the snowplow fleet, and additional winter operations equipment that have Statewide impact and is highly complex and sensitive. Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: + Serve as a Telematics/AVL(Geotab) Expert certified installer with hands-on installation experience. Maintain a strong and high level of understanding of the device's functionality, proper harness selection, installation methods, and database management used for fleet analytics. + Analyze driver behavior and vehicle diagnostics data to improve safety, fuel efficiency, and operational compliance. Interpret metrics on speeding, harsh braking, and idle times to identify training needs and support educating drivers on safer, more efficient habits while assisting with technology adoption. + Ensure accuracy and alignment between the data in the AVL system and the Maintenance Management System (MMS). + Conduct statewide field visits to install, troubleshoot, and deliver training, with a goal of maintaining at least 97% of the heavy fleet actively reporting in the Telematics (Geotab) system at any time + Monitor material distribution to ensure the telematics is capturing winter material. + Communicate and coordinate with field personnel, shop supervisors, and stakeholders to ensure statewide consistency in device selection, installation practices, and reporting metrics. + Provide training on Geotab installation, the Drive app, and Geotab system features. + Collaborate with team members to oversee the winter operations equipment inventory to assess and prioritize fleet repairs and replacements, research and resolve data/maintenance inconsistencies for all winter equipment. + Work with team members and collaborate to offer recommendations that will ensure best practices for the overall management of the winter fleet. + Review and analyze fleet management data to determine the operational readiness status of seasonal equipment with a focus on winter and snowplow assets. + Consult on appropriate products for fleet vehicle maintenance and repair. This involves research, testing, and evaluation of items such as diagnostic tools, software, and equipment. + Provide support and assists Regions with the procurement of tools, repair and maintenance parts, and shop equipment in accordance with State procurement rules and regulations. + Retrieve and review reports on equipment management systems to ensure the data from the field is accurate and verify all vehicles and equipment are properly maintained, utilized, and repairs are cost-effective. + Develop, prepare, and distribute reports to the Region, DMO, and Maintenance management on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. + Collaborate with the Fleet Services Data Analyst on reporting features and dashboards that would benefit the overall user experience for statewide communication. + Research and build preventive maintenance part kits with multiple vendorsu2019 part lists to be ordered when a preventive work order is generated. + Working within CDOT sections to facilitate collaboration that will support each other with repairs to increase fleet readiness in sections across CDOT. + Choose appropriate products for fleet vehicle maintenance and repair. Then present those recommendation to the Heavy Fleet Coordinator. + Direct and coordinate activities related to the operational readiness of CDOT winter operations equipment inventory with a focus on snowplows but could include other heavy fleet assets. + Regularly consult and inform staff from the Regions and Maintenance Sections by facilitating regularly scheduled meetings, generating reports, and maintaining consistent communication with regional shop staff and Maintenance Section management. + Other job duties as assigned. Work Environment: + Monday - Friday 7:30AM to 4:00PM + Travel required around the state for training, meetings, and telematics. (Telematics includes device troubleshooting and installation, training personnel on proper use of the Drive and identifying issues within that app.) + Required to operate CDOT vehicles. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications Experience Only: + Six (6) years of relevant experience in Fleet Management, Fleet Maintenance and Fleet Operations.
