You must embrace theopportunities afforded by journalists through streaming. What can youbring to WFRV+? Our anchors are working journalists. The successfulcandidate should be prepared to anchor and report on developing,breaking, franchise and trending content across all screens andplatforms. This anchor must maintain an on-air persona that is friendlyand authoritative, exhibit urgency every day, particularly duringbreaking news, and have a high-level of engagement on digital platforms.Leadership is a must As Morning Anchor, you'll be expected to lead byexample and work with managers to coach and motivate other staff. Theideal candidate must be able to work well with other staff under periodsof stress and impending deadlines and must have a visceral distaste foroffice politics and gossip. Applicants should have at least five yearsof on-air anchoring experience and two years of reporting experience.Overall, we're looking for an experienced, hard-working journalist witha positive attitude and a team-oriented, leadership nature who can drivehigher levels of social engagement, web traffic, and television viewingfrom our audience. Other duties, such as making personal appearances topromote the station, may be assigned as the needs of the stationdictate. Our newsroom is forward-thinking and built on a strong emphasisof positive reinforcement, feedback, growth and development of talent.Job Duties Present and report on news stories and other content for allplatforms. Host at least one streaming program. It's likely the programairs daily. Ensure all news content meets company standards forjournalistic integrity and production quality. Work with management toenterprise and develop stories. Evaluate news leads and tips to developstory ideas. Write and deliver news stories in a clear and concisemanner. Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots andstand-ups, creative graphics, and use of digital and social mediaplatforms Communicate clearly and respectfully with management and teammembers. Assist in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinatingnews programming and other content. Coach and mentor young talent. Actas a field reporter as assigned. Conduct interviews with news personneland others. Respond to breaking news and other urgent newsroomssituations as required. Participate in promotional activities includingpublic appearances and community volunteer opportunities. Performspecial projects and other duties as assigned. Edit video clips asassigned. Write content for the website and other digital platforms. Mayproduce newscasts. Interact with viewers/users on social media sites.Promote teamwork and maintain attitude of cooperation with all stationpersonnel. OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor'sdegree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalentcombination of education and work-related experience. Fluency inEnglish. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with theability to ad lib when required. Minimum five years' experience in newsanchoring and two years of on-camera news reporting. Superior on-airpresence. Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of localand national current events, history, newsmakers and issues. Experienceguiding, directing and motivating others. Ability to identify thedevelopmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise helpothers to improve their knowledge or skills. Proficiency with computers,telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multipletasks simultaneously. Ability to effectively listen to fully understandproblems and communica e with a team to shape a solution. Validdriver's license with a good driving record. Flexibility to work anyshift.
