About this Role The Field Mechanic at Service Electric Company travels throughout their assigned region and is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of construction vehicles and heavy equipment/machinery. This role supports field operations by ensuring all vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and compliant with regulatory standards. Work is performed primarily at job sites. What You'll Do u00b7 Perform routine maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles, including pickup trucks, medium/heavy-duty trucks, bucket trucks, and other equipment. u00b7 Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. u00b7 Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair aerial lift systems, booms, outriggers, and related components. u00b7 Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) services to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. u00b7 Respond to field service calls and perform on-site repairs as needed. u00b7 Travel with storm crews, as needed. u00b7 Ensure all vehicles meet DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards. u00b7 Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work orders. u00b7 Coordinate with operations and fleet management to prioritize repairs and minimize disruption. u00b7 Manage parts inventory and communicate parts needs in a timely manner. u00b7 Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. u00b7 Other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS u00b7 High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; technical or trade school certification preferred. u00b7 5+ years of experience working on commercial vehicles or heavy equipment. u00b7 Experience with hydraulic systems and aerial equipment (bucket trucks) strongly preferred. u00b7 Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engines, electrical systems, braking systems, and diagnostics. u00b7 Valid driveru2019s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES u00b7 Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical documents. u00b7 Strong organizational skills with a strong attention to detail. u00b7 Ability to identify and solve issues. u00b7 Good interpersonal skills. u00b7 Self-motivated. u00b7 Capable of handling multiple projects concurrently with good time management. u00b7 Ability to conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of SEC, working effectively in a diverse work environment. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: None TRAVEL REQUIRED: Heavy WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires: u2022 Regular presence in a shop settings and active construction field environments, including outdoor job sites subject to variable weather and terrain conditions. u2022 Ability to traverse rough or uneven terrain and access construction work zones in compliance with all applicable safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements. u2022 The ability to drive to and from work sites and could include long periods of driving. u2022 Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks u2022 Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working at heights (for equipment inspection) u2022 Ability to work overtime, weekend work, and on-call availability for emergency repairs NOTE: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
