Summary Serves as the Computed Tomography (CT)/X-ray Supervisor for Diagnostic Imaging Technologists at the Spokane VAMC with comprehensive and complex radiographic and CT imaging knowledge. The incumbent has administrative and professional responsibility for assisting, planning, and directing the CT and General X-ray staff affiliated with this medical center and outpatient clinics. Responsibilities Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the performance of the individuals within the CT/X-ray Diagnostic Imaging Service. Provides direction to personnel in managing their respective sections and offers advice and guidance in handling unique problems. Monitors all activities within CT/X-ray Diagnostic Imaging Service, analyzes organizational, technical and administrative problems, and takes appropriate action as required in order to ensure efficient and effective program operations. Advises employees of performance requirements and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting these requirements. Identifies continuing education and training needs. Holds corrective interviews with employees regarding inadequate performance or conduct. Recommends disciplinary actions when appropriate. Participates in the management of human resources for the Imaging Department including selection, promotion, performance appraisal, and award and promotion systems. Regularly sets objectives for self, staff and the department. Monitors and evaluates objectives in order to use time effectively and meet deadlines. Deals with the union representatives on matters involving employees. Directs the In-service training and radiologic student programs. Conducts monthly staff meetings with staff to exchange information, and discuss policy and procedure changes, safety and medical center issues and offer training opportunities. Coordinates the integration of the Radiology Department functions with other aspects of overall patient care. Participates in the development/revision, implementation and communication of goals, policies, and standards for the department. Works with nursing and other clinical supervisors within the Spokane VAMC in addressing radiology service issues and to support the maintenance of high quality patient care. Recommends action to the Service Chief and the Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor in regard to equipment purchases, modifications and construction within the department. Participates in quality performance/improvement activities and ensures compliance with Joint Commission requirements for activities under his/her area of responsibility. Responsible for the technical aspect of CT and X-ray imaging equipment operation and safety and for carrying out the recommendations of the radiology safety committee. Checks each day on all CT/X-ray equipment and electronic imaging chain to verify and clear any errors in the archive system or assist in resolving equipment issues. Responsible for the quality assurance of the image prior to transmission to the PAC's network. Performs integrity checks of image transmissions and assures that all images are received. Troubleshoots problems with all imaging equipment including PAC's. Performs daily reconciliations of image data and demographic information in the archive. Assists with daily maintenance of imaging systems as they relate to the proper acquisition of data/images from modalities. Coordinates the testing of radiology equipment by in-house engineers and outside manufacturers and health physicists. Coordinates the preventive maintenance program and service contracts for CT and X-ray equipment. Practices hospital safety, infection control, universal precaution and uses As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALRA) principles in radiation safety in accordance with age and gender specific departmental guidelines. Assists in developing policy and procedure for technical staff. Oversees scheduled outpatient clinic appointment using CERNER scheduling options. Uses established business rules to schedule appointments for Veterans and enters administrative notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
