The connection we have to the source of our fresh foods is core to the way we do business, becoming the first major supermarket in the United States to document that all its seafood products were sustainably harvested. PRIMARY PURPOSE Management trainee program is designed to equip future managers with the skills and knowledge necessary to be effective in this position. Department will be assigned based on store needs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES u2022 Observe and follow all company policies and established standard practices. u2022 In the absence of the department manager, manage the department operations in accordance with established department standard practices. u2022 Maintain a neat, well groomed personal appearance at all times and comply with company's personal appearance policy. u2022 Actively recognize associates who deliver great service and coach associates to expectations when necessary. u2022 Understand and use company tools such as; financial reports, scheduling, productivity, ordering, and business information systems. u2022 Maintain solid communication in the department, with the store manager, and throughout the organization. u2022 Maintain merchandising techniques and layouts consistent with company standards. u2022 Maintain department compliance with pricing and coding policy. u2022 Work within our company's management planning (MPP) guidelines to maintain productivity. u2022 Support company safety standards. Communicate any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work needed. Keep work area free from debris and safety hazards. u2022 Develop product knowledge in all areas of assigned department, including product preparation. u2022 Have total understanding of department's Standard Practice manual. u2022 Ensure the proper training of all assigned department associates. u2022 Ensure and maintain company sanitation and food safety standards. u2022 Maintain the quality of department's appearance and presentation. u2022 Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect. Provide recognition of accomplishments and offer feedback when necessary. u2022 Perform all special projects and duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS u2022 Ability to lead and direct others. u2022 Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job. u2022 Good interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment. u2022 Must meet minimum age requirements to comply with company policy. u2022 Effective communication and customer service skills. Physical Requirements u2022 Lift cases or packages of products weighing 1-40 lb. frequently and 100 lb. on occasion. u2022 Meet established volume activity standards. u2022 Stand or walk 100% of the time. u2022 Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching and hand/arm motions. u2022 Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials. u2022 Use hands continuously to feel objects, and use tools and equipment to cut and prepare products. u2022 Frequent bending. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS u2022 Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations. u2022 Direct work flow of assigned department associates. u2022 Ensure product produced meets company standards. u2022 Oversee the assigned areas including rotation of all products. u2022 Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records. u2022 Order and maintain inventory control in order to maximize sales and limit shrink issues. u2022 Use good judgment in the delegation, assignment, and follow up required for efficient performance of the department. u2022 Maintain effectiveness of department's staffing, scheduling, and financial results. u2022 Wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment as outlined by company practices. u2022 Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
