About the Role This organization is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative dedicated to delivering exceptional service and building long-term relationships. The Member Services Representative / Loan Assistant plays a critical role in supporting members with a wide range of banking and loan-related services while contributing to a welcoming, family-oriented branch environment. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, service-driven, and thrives in an environment where teamwork, accountability, and member experience come first. Key Responsibilities + Open, close, and maintain member accounts + Open and maintain Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) + Assist members with various financial products and services + Support members with legal accounts (e.g., POA, guardianships, conservatorships) + Answer member inquiries via phone, email, and online platforms + Process transactions such as: + Wire transfers + Stop payments + Travel notices + Address changes + Check orders + Provide administrative and clerical support to the Loan Processing Department + Communicate with members and internal teams in the absence of a Loan Officer + Prepare, assemble, and send loan packages as requested + Generate and update interest rate sheets in the system + Maintain organized and accurate filing systems + Perform additional duties as assigned Schedule & Work Environment + Hours: Mondayu2013Friday, 9:00 AMu20135:30 PM + No Saturdays + 1-hour lunch + 1 fifteenu2011minute break + Training & Onboarding: + 100% branch-based orientation + Initial paperwork, shadowing, and hands-on training + Pace determined by manager based on learning curve + Access to an online training platform with strong regulatory focus + Work Culture: + Family-oriented, supportive, and accountable + Business casual attire + Highly hands-on leadership and proactive feedback (90-day review and annual reviews) Required Qualifications Must Have: + Friendly, welcoming demeanor with a strong service mindset + Clear, professional communication skills + Experience opening and closing customer accounts + Comfort assisting with phones and handling challenging member situations + Strong work ethicu2014someone who u201cruns toward the fire, not away from itu201d + Team-first mentality with proactive problem-solving instincts + Positive, articulate, and dependable personality Preferred Qualifications + Banking or credit union experience + Experience with core banking systems (DNA/Fiserv preferred) + Exposure to: + Debit card setup + Online banking support + Fraud resolution + Account inquiries + Death claims, guardianships, or POA processing What Sets This Opportunity Apart + Exceptional benefits with very low out-of-pocket cost, including: + 13 paid federal holidays + 401(k) with 2% company match + 10% money purchase pension contribution into 401(k) + Leadership team that is highly involved in training and development + Strong emphasis on accountability, teamwork, and outstanding member service + A culture where people are noticed, supported, and expected to contribute Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Ann Arbor, MI.
