Job Description JoinUniversity of Chicago Medicine,as anAdvanced Practice Providerin theTrauma Surgery Unit. As the Advanced Practice Provider, youwill beresponsible for comprehensive direct patient care management in the general medicine patient population. The APP will manage a caseload of patients and exerciseautonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. Additionally, you willprovide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical nursing specialist support, and completing administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership. Advanced Practice Provider Essential Job FunctionsTaking patient history, conducting examinations, diagnosing illnessPre and post-operative patient evaluation and ordering and interpreting laboratory testsAbility to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic servicesAssessment, planning, intervention, and evaluationof care on an advanced levelNurse Practitioner Required QualificationsMaster's of Science in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing PracticeCurrent and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registrationMust be certified as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse PractitionersMust have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbersMust have a minimum of 2 years inpatient Trauma experience as a PA or NP.ATLS certification is required within a year from date of hire.Must have AGACNP certification but FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant Trauma Surgery experience as a PA or NP.Physician Assistant Required QualificationsCompletion of an accredited Physician Assistant Master’s programCurrent and/or eligibility for State of Illinois PA licensure / registrationMust have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbersMust have a minimum of 2 years inpatient Trauma experience as a PA or NP.ATLS certification is required within a year from date of hire.Must have AGACNP certification but FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant Trauma Surgery experience as a PA or NP.Position DetailsJob Type/FTE: Registry (0.1 FTE)Shift:prnUnit/Department: Trauma SurgeryCBA Code:Non-Union
