The role is centered around working on requirements, verification and certification of mission control centers, IT systems, infrastructure, and networking. The candidate will also train to become a certified flight controller (GC - Ground Control) and will play an active role during the upcoming first flight of the Dream Chaser spacecraft.About YouOur mission is driven by an unyielding commitment to advancing space-based technology in service of our customers and safeguarding national security. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Key Responsibilities:Design, integrate, test, and maintain Mission IT systems, infrastructure, and networksDevelop and certify Mission Systems, including requirement verification and validationCreate test plans, conduct testing, and provide user training and supportDevelop documentation for design, operations, and trainingRefine operational concepts and processes Support real-time missions and pre mission simulationsFlight Operations end user supportPerform general systems engineering and integration tasksWork closely with NASA during all mission preparation and planningThe ability to obtain and maintain a Secret, or higher, U.S. Security Clearance may be requiredMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience. Relevant experience may count towards degree requirementRelevant advanced degree may count towards required years of experienceExperience with VMware, Docker,python, RF, Cisco switches, and Palo Alto FirewallsExperience with command and telemetry software (InControl & Amergint | ARKA)Proficient with Linux and Windows operating systemsExperience in IT system & network administration, data management, software configuration, and real-time mission supportPractical knowledge of engineering principles and practicesExperience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teamsKnowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principlesThis position is based on site at our Louisville locationMust pass NASA background check and maintain NASA clearancePreferred Qualifications:Experience in real-time operations, spacecraft ground systems, and control center operationsExperience managing IT applications, systems, and networkingExperience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLABPractical knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)Knowledge of ground to space communication systems and control center developmentProficiency in Jira and ConfluenceExperience or certification in INCOSE standardsBackground in the Aerospace and Defense IndustryAbility to administer baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measuresExposure to establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)#LI-CB1 #LI-ONSITECompensation:Pay Range:$119,064.00 - $163,713.00Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education,experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.Elevate Your CareerAt Sierra Space, we are committed to your personal and professional development.
