Description:Primary Purpose of RoleThe Engineering Intern supports engineering teams by contributing to technical projects. This role is designed to provide practical experience in a professional engineering environment while supporting ongoing product, process, and system initiatives across various engineering disciplines.The following Departments may be available:ApplicationsProductTestCustomer SolutionsKey ResponsibilitiesThe main responsibility of this position will be to assist in the completion of many Engineering projects. Other duties may include, but are not limited to the following:Collect data for several engineering projectsPerform research and benchmarking of existing solutionsAssist in the design, development and build of solutions Test, analyze, and record test data of developed solutions to meet various customer performance requirements.Write and present reports on projectsProcess development & documentation work instructionsAssist production, domestic and international affiliates with manufacturing issues as terface with other disciplines including: product engineering, design, testing & development, manufacturing.Visit assembly and machining plants and customer sites to learn about manufacturing procedures, cost savings opportunities and customer requirements.All other duties as directed by petencies and BehaviorsTechnical Aptitude: Demonstrates interest and foundational understanding of engineering principles relevant to their field.Problem Solving: Approaches challenges methodically; willing to test ideas, learn from results, and propose improvements.Attention to Detail: Accurately collects data, follows instructions, and documents work.Collaboration: Works well in team settings and communicates clearly with colleagues and supervisors.Curiosity & Willingness to Learn: Actively seeks knowledge, asks questions, and embraces feedback.Accountability: Takes ownership of assigned tasks and delivers work on time and with quality.Adaptability: Able to adjust to changing priorities, tasks, or project needs.Professionalism: Demonstrates reliability, integrity, and respect in interactions and work habits.Qualifications and ExperiencePursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Computer, Data Science, Manufacturing, Industrial, or a related technical field.Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals and analytical methods.Prior internship, co‑op, or hands‑on project experience (academic or extracurricular) is a plus.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or equivalent productivity tools.Primary Location:Lafayette, IndianaAdditional Locations:Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
