Work involves assisting in the oversight of the agencyand#8217;s Marketing and Public Relations Division, managing all aspects of the agencyand#8217;s marketing/, internet and social media, marketing, advertising, branding, online and print publications and public relations. Supervises the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:1. Serves as primary division project manager ensuring that adequate resources are allocated and projects meet deadlines. Proactively effecting adjustments when needed and using available project management tools.2. Provides direct supervision to Marketing and Public Relations team members, offering guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to enhance team capacity and cohesion.3. Assists with the oversight of the divisionand#8217;s budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.4. Tracks, analyzes and reports on the effectiveness of communication and marketing efforts using tools such as web analytics, media monitoring, and engagement metrics. Makes recommendations for improvement.5. Develops and implements marketing strategies to promote the agencyand#8217;s programs and network of historic sites in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.6. Serve as a primary point of contact for all agency staff on matters related to marketing, editing, public relations, design, and web-based projects and inquiries.7. Reviews and approves marketing and communications products submitted to internal and external clients. Materials include, but are not limited to, brochures, newsletters, annual reports, flyers, travel guides, posters, invitations, press releases, and website content.8. Ensures consistent use of the THC brand across all communication channels and materials; provides guidance on brand standards and usage.9. Serves as the one of the agencyand#8217;s primary contacts for all media inquiries. Evaluates requests and coordinates appropriate responses in collaboration with leadership.10. Directs the planning, creation, and distribution of agency communications across multiple platforms, including print, video, and digital media.11. Cultivate and manage strong working relationships with agency stakeholders, commissioners, media contacts, and partner organizations to ensure alignment and mutual understanding of agency goals and initiatives.12. Proactively identifies emerging issues or challenges facing the agency.13. Communicates regularly with the Division Director, providing updates on key issues, challenges, and opportunities. Assists in the development of talking points, briefing documents, and other materials as needed.NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:14. Adhere to established work schedule with regular attendance.15. Follow all THC safety guidelines/procedures and ethics requirements.16. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:and#183; Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or a closely related field; Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis;and#183; Minimum five yearsand#8217; work experience in communications, public affairs and media relations with at least two years of such experience at a government agency is preferred;and#183; Demonstrated understanding of social media tools and their proper use, branding and paid media, and an ability to use leading edge communication and marketing models to shape recommendations and advice. Mostly sedentary in nature but may involve walking; standing; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping and bending; performing tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Must be able work extended periods at a computer, and may require working extended hours and some evenings, weekends and overnight, as needed.
