Join our team and grow your career in a hospital where everyday excellence meets or exceeds expectations.Job SummaryThe Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and monitoring medications to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical therapies for patients in an acute care hospital setting. This role includes verifying medication orders, providing drug information, compounding sterile products, and overseeing the work of pharmacy technicians to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.Essential FunctionsReview and verify medication orders for accuracy, dosage, and potential drug interactionsPrepare and dispense medications in accordance with established protocols and physician ordersCompound sterile products, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition solutions using aseptic techniquesProvide drug information and consultation to healthcare professionals regarding appropriate medication useMonitor patient medication profiles for contraindications, allergies, and therapeutic duplicationsEducate patients on medication therapy, potential side effects, and proper administration techniquesAssist in maintaining the pharmacy inventory, including controlled substances, and ensure proper storage and securityParticipate in interdisciplinary team meetings to provide input on medication management and therapeutic plansDocument all clinical activities and interventions in the patient medical recordAssist in the orientation and training of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy studentsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsStrong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and regulatory standardsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in using pharmacy information systems and medication dispensing softwareAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environmentStrong analytical and critical thinking skills for identifying and resolving medication-related issuesDemonstrates commitment to continuous learning and professional developmentQualificationsEducationDoctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy requiredLicenses/CertificationsActive and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of practice requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredSterile Products Certification preferredExperienceMinimum of 1-2 years of clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferredExperience in compounding sterile products and medication therapy management preferred
