Description Job Title: Summer Day Camp Program Lead FLSA Status: Full Time - non-exemptReports to: Red Shield Program Manager Schedule: 40W M-F 7am-6pm (will vary by shift), Seasonal from May-Mid August Supervises: n/a Rate of Pay: $17.51 Closing Date: 4/22/2026 Benefits: Temporary; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following: + Sick leave benefit u2013 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.) Position Summary The Red Shield Summer Day Camp Program Lead will work daily with kids in the center to build positive relationships and foster a friendly, safe environment where children can grow and thrive. The camp serves kids from kindergarten through 9th grade. To accomplish this, the Program Lead will collaborate with Program Aides and the Program Manager as a team to deliver programming that meets the evolving needs of the children. Program Leads will also be responsible for facilitating and leading programs designed by the Program Manager within their assigned areas. Duties and Responsibilities u2022 Assist with summer programming as needed, including supervision, guidance, and care for children in educational, enrichment, and recreational settings u2022 Provide leadership support to Corps ministry components integrated into the summer program u2022 Drive children to and from off-site field trips u2022 Ensure compliance with childcare licensing requirements u2022 Provide positive, encouraging instruction during group activities u2022 Assist with food preparation, serving, and cleanup u2022 Build partnerships with parents and maintain responsive, supportive relationships with children u2022 Help maintain discipline and encourage children to follow program rules u2022 Assist with general setup and cleanup of program areas and support opening/closing procedures for the facility u2022 Supervise rotations and manage sign-in and sign-out procedures u2022 Lead activities within assigned program departments u2022 Ensure each child is always accounted for u2022 Support the supervision of all children and ensure Program Aides are supervising children as required u2022 Maintain a safe and orderly environment u2022 Report all issues to the Program Manager. u2022 Follow all internal child-safety protocols (PTM), including proper incident documentation u2022 Attend mandatory staff trainings u2022 Other duties as assigned Education/Experience u00b7 High School diploma or equivalent u00b7 Prior experience working with children in some capacity u00b7 Knowledge of TSA preferred Skills u00b7 Strong multi-tasker u00b7 Ability to work independently and within a team u00b7 Demonstrated crisis intervention and non-violent mediation skills u00b7 Proficiency in Microsoft products u00b7 Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to learn new software with basic training Qualities u00b7 Maintain a high level of confidentiality u00b7 Remain calm and effective in stressful situations u00b7 Supportive of The Salvation Armyu2019s mission u00b7 Able to reflect and model the high standards of our organization Driving The position requires driving: + The employee must be 21 years old at minimum (for insurance provision) and possess a valid in-state driveru2019s license + An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Armyu2019s policies Background Check + Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Armyu2019s policies Physical + Ability to maneuver, to remain in a stationary position, to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead, to lift 25 pounds, to access and produce information from the computer, to operate telephone, to understand written information + Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
