Koniag Emerging Technologies, LLC (KET), a Koniag Government Services (KGS) company, is hiring a Senior Database Engineer to support our government customer in Washington DC. Position requires an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with ability to obtain additional security requirements. Please do not apply if you do not possess the required Top Secret Clearance. We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to lead and support the design, implementation, and optimization of complex, geographically dispersed PostgreSQL-based database systems. The ideal candidate will provide deep technical expertise across protocols, services, and tools to diagnose configuration issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure secure, resilient, and high performing data environments. This role includes guiding best practice security, performance tuning, maintenance strategy, and high availability/distributed PostgreSQL solutions such as pgEdge. Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience with enterprise PostgreSQL deployments and modern distributed DB technologies. Key Responsibilities: u2022 Lead and assist in the architecture, deployment, and sustainment of complex distributed PostgreSQL environments. u2022 Provide expert troubleshooting for database performance, configuration, replication, scalability, and reliability issues. u2022 Analyze problematic configurations and implement corrective actions across a variety of database technologies and protocols. u2022 Recommend and apply best practices in database hardening, security, backup, and maintenance. u2022 Support distributed PostgreSQL solutions including pgEdge, Crunchy Data, and other HA/DR frameworks. u2022 Collaborate with system engineering, cybersecurity, and cloud teams to ensure compliant and optimized data environments. u2022 Maintain documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks for enterprise database operations. Required Experience: u2022 5+ years as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer u2022 Significant hands-on PostgreSQL experience in enterprise or mission critical environments u2022 Experience with geographically dispersed architecture, HA/DR, and distributed PostgreSQL Education: Bacheloru2019s degree in computer science or related technical field is preferred. Required Certifications: DoD 8140 Baseline: u2022 Security+ (or GSEC) required u2022 Additional acceptable: Cloud+, SSCP, CASP+, CISSP, CISA Technical Certifications: u2022 T3 Level: DB platform certification aligned to environment (e.g., DP 300, Oracle OCP) + Securityu2022 T4 Level: Senior DB platform certification + CISSP (or CCSP for cloud DB environments) Preferred Certifications/Training: u2022 T3: SSCP, cloud data specialty, performance/tuning training u2022 T4: Data architecture credentials, encryption/key management training, HA/DR specialization Relevant Technology Stack: u2022 PostgreSQL (latest versions) u2022 Crunchy Data u2022 pgEdge or similar distributed PostgreSQL technology Requirements: TS/SCI security clearance required, candidate will not be considered without.
