Summary The Project Engineer will manage the design, technical specifications, equipment sourcing, and site construction of power generation facilities. Ensure projects are completed in compliance with technical and safety standards, on schedule, and within budget. Serve as a key liaison between engineering, contractors, and clients. In addition to providing engineering and project management support for assigned projects, perform power plant evaluation technical support and performance improvement engagements for both internal NAES and external customers. Primary Duties Engineering Design & Coordination: Develop conceptual/schematic designs (layouts, single-line diagrams, P&ID’s etc.) for power systems, ensuring compliance with the project requirements, national and local codes. Project Management & Scheduling: Create detailed project plans, schedules, and manage technical budgets to drive project execution from conception to commissioning. Procurement Support: Prepare technical specifications and carry out bid evaluations for equipment, review vendor data, and manage the technical procurement process. Interface Management: Coordinate between multidisciplinary engineering teams (civil, mechanical, electrical), clients, consultants & contractors to ensure overall project integration. Construction & Commissioning Support: Provide on-site engineering support during installation, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure compliance with design standards and safety guidelines. Safety & Compliance: Enforce NAES safety regulations, project quality standards, and environmental compliance. Working Relationships The Project Engineer reports to the EP Sr. Director of Engineering. May also assign and oversee the work of other NAES personnel assigned to their project. Compensation The initial compensation is $137,500.00 to $158,100 Job Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent. Years of Experience: Seven years of experience in power plant engineering and design including simple-cycle gas turbines and combined cycle power plants gained in an EPC, OEM or AE environment. Experience with project scheduling and budgeting. Preferred Experience: Experience with coal and oil-fired thermal plants and large combustion engines. Licenses/Certification: Professional Engineering (PE) registration (preferred) Software/Equipment Knowledge: Power station equipment including turbines, generators, HRSG’s, steam systems, cooling towers, water treatment systems, electrical distribution, fire protection, and other facility mechanical and electrical systems. MS Office including Microsoft Project Familiarity with other project management tools and performance monitoring software (preferred). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Normal working hours are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Travel is 25-50% to meet client or project requirements. Fit for Duty All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
