Cost Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis with the potential for a long-term position in Portland, Oregon. This role is centered on providing critical financial insights and cost management expertise within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will excel in cost analysis, inventory oversight, and collaborating across departments to drive accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities: u2022 Analyze and manage cost accounting processes to support manufacturing operations. u2022 Oversee inventory management and ensure accurate record-keeping. u2022 Audit and validate costs, addressing discrepancies such as missing freight charges and outdated records. u2022 Collaborate with teams to streamline and implement cost change updates. u2022 Evaluate and report on standard costs versus purchase price variances to identify areas for improvement. u2022 Contribute to the implementation and testing of Microsoft Dynamics 365, including managing bills of materials (BOMs). u2022 Assist in transitioning from standard costing to a weighted average costing model for raw materials. u2022 Review and interpret data to provide actionable insights that align with business objectives. u2022 Take detailed meeting notes and proactively follow up on action items to ensure completion. Requirements u2022 At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing setting. u2022 Proficiency in D365 and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. u2022 Strong knowledge of standard costing practices and inventory management. u2022 Proven ability to analyze data, solve problems, and think critically. u2022 Detail-oriented with the capacity to handle multiple priorities effectively. u2022 Self-motivated and able to work independently while also collaborating with teams. u2022 Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with various departments.
