Select your correct bargaining unit FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN A REJECTED BID APPLICATION The Mayoru2019s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) announces a new position within our Substance Use Prevention Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This role will provide outreach and training throughout the State of Illinois to Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth in grades 6-12 on substance use prevention strategies. Responsibilities include developing presentations, creating reports and tracking data, and representing MOPD at community outreach events. ESSE N T IAL DU T I E S u00b7 Develops training materials and facilitates presentations on substance use prevention strategies for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth in grades 6-12 through the State of Illinois. u00b7 Proactively conducts outreach to Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs in Illinois to identify opportunities to present on substance use prevention strategies. u00b7 Prepares handouts to use in trainings and outreach to share with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, as well as the greater disability community. u00b7 Maintains records and prepares reports on community outreach and training/presentation activities. u00b7 Conducts research on topics related to substance use prevention for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing population, as well as other disability-related topics. u00b7 Promotes MOPD programs and services on social media and newsletter communications. u00b7 Attend community meetings, resource fairs, expos, and events to inform residents of MOPD services, as well as discuss community concerns and receive requests for City services and programs identified as a need by the disability community. u00b7 Assists in coordinating MOPD community meetings and events. u00b7 Plans, prepares, and delivers lessons in ASL (beginner to advanced levels). u00b7 Promotes awareness of Deaf culture, accessibility, and language equity. Performs other related duties as assigned. Lo c a t i o n : Mayoru2019s Office for People with Disabilities 2102 West Ogden Avenue D ays : Monday u2013 Friday H ou r s : 8:30am u2013 4:30pm THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bacheloru2019s degree in the social sciences or a directly related field, plus two (2) years of community or social services experience Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable: u00b7 Six (6) years of community or social services work experience u00b7 Graduation from an accredited college with an associateu2019s degree in the social sciences or a directly related field, plus four (4) years of community or social service work experience u00b7 Graduation from an accredited college or university with a masteru2019s degree or higher in the social sciences or a directly related field, plus one (1) year of community or social service work experience Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required Selection Criteria This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the interview, will be selected.
