Job DutiesThe Saint Paul City Attorneyu2019s Office is currently accepting applications for a Civil Attorney position within its Civil Division. The pay range will be dependent on qualifications.Associate Attorney Salary Level: $52.55 - $59.78; $109,304 - $124,342.40 AnnuallyAttorney Salary Level: $55.74 - $68.82; $115,939.20 - $143,145.60 Annually Senior Attorney Level: $65.35 - $81.88; $135,928 - $170,310.40 AnnuallyHereu2019s what you can expect to do:u2022 This position will focus primarily on civil transactional and regulatory matters, with opportunities to handle litigation and other assignments as needed.u2022 Typical work includes:u2022 Provide general legal services and expert legal advice to the City Council, the Mayoru2019s Office, various City departments, divisions, offices, authorities, boards, commissions and committees.u2022 Staff meetings of the Saint Paul City Council, Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Planning Commissions and other boards and commissions of the City.u2022 Draft ordinances, resolutions, rules and policies.u2022 Prepare legal opinions or memoranda.u2022 Draft and negotiate contracts, which may include real estate documents such as development agreements, easements, deeds, restrictive covenants, subordination agreements, leases, and loan and grant agreements.u2022 Advise on Federal, State and City compliance requirements.u2022 Represent the City of Saint Paul and its various departments, boards, and commissions in administrative cases and related matters.u2022 Plan, organize, mentor, and lead the work of other employees in varying positions within the Civil Division as requested by the City Attorney, Deputy City Attorney, or Supervising Attorney.u2022 Information Specific to this Position: The worksite for this position is at the Saint Paul City Attorneyu2019s Office located in downtown Saint Paul. While some telework may be possible upon approval of the City Attorney, this position is not a remote position. Minimum Education RequiredJuris Doctorate Degree and a license to practice law from the Supreme Court of the State of Minnesota Minimum Experience RequiredJob classification and salary will be commensurate with experience.Associate Attorney: Candidates for positions as an Associate Attorney will have at least a Juris Doctorate Degree and a license to practice law from the Supreme Court of the State of Minnesota and candidates must have at least two years of experience as an attorney in active public or private practice.Continued employment as an Associate Attorney is contingent upon maintaining such licensure.Attorney: Candidates for positions as an Attorney will have at least a Juris Doctorate Degree and a license to practice law from the Supreme Court of the State of Minnesota and candidates must have at least 3 years of directly related attorney experience.Continued employment as an Attorney is contingent upon maintaining such licensure.Senior Attorney Level: Candidates for positions as an Attorney will have at least a Juris Doctorate Degree and a license to practice law from the Supreme Court of the State of Minnesota and candidates must have at least 7 years of directly related attorney experience.Continued employment as a Senior Attorney is contingent upon maintaining such licensure.
