Street Laborer

*[LABORER STREET DEPARTMENT]{.underline}** **Reports to: Village Administrator** [General Purpose:{height=7 width=2}]{.underline} Under general supervision of the Village Administrator, performs the duties of the department, performs street, storm sewer, park and building maintenance activities; operates various light to heavy equipment. Performs other related duties as required. [Minimum Qualifications:]{.underline} Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possessions of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below. Shall possess a high school diploma and obtain a valid State of Ohio Class B CDL, within six months of employment, if required to drive a commercial vehicle. [Necessary Knowledge. Skills. and Abilities:{height=6 width=1}]{.underline} Knowledge of street and storm sewer maintenance and construction techniques, materials and equipment safety practices and procedures, building and facility maintenance techniques, material and equipment operation; lawn care or landscape experience; ability to communicate effectively in written and/or oral form and to exercise sound judgement; demonstrate physical fitness and be able to perform manual tasks for extended periods of time under possible adverse weather conditions; develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors and general public. [Duties and Responsibilities{height=1 width=1}]{.underline} 1. Under the direction of the Village Administrator, assist with the performance of street, sewer, park, and facility maintenance duties as needed and in compliance with the safety practices and procedures of the department. 2. Performs various street and storm sewer maintenance activities e.g., street paving and patching; construction and installation of street signs and markers; snow and ice control; dead tree removal; brush and yard waste pickup; fall leaf pick-up; weed and grass control; cleans and maintains existing storm sewer lines and catch basins. 3. Operate and assist with the operation of motorized equipment used in the maintenance and repair and installation of storm sewer lines; maintenance and repairs of equipment, and other related units and components. 4. Repairs and returns streets, lawns, etc. to original or proper condition after work project is completed. 5. Enforce the laws, general) policies, and procedures as established by the Village as directed. 6. Performs various other related duties as needed and/or required including assistance with other Village departments as may be required.
