Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to join a collaborative team in St. Louis, Missouri. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can balance core accounting work with treasury, tax, payroll, and reporting responsibilities in a hands-on office environment. The role requires someone who can manage deadlines, maintain accurate financial records, and support leadership with timely analysis and operational insight. Responsibilities: u2022 Oversee daily treasury activity by recording cash movements, processing transfers, reconciling bank accounts, and notifying leadership of significant incoming payments. u2022 Maintain the general ledger by preparing entries, completing account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities within established timelines. u2022 Administer sales tax processes, including ownership of the Avalara platform, streamlined filing support, state liability reviews, and follow-up with tax agencies when needed. u2022 Coordinate payroll and benefits administration by working with external providers, entering biweekly time data, reconciling related accounts, and updating employee deduction information. u2022 Manage retirement plan administration through the companyu2019s provider, including contribution tracking, reconciliation of employee and employer amounts, and ongoing record maintenance. u2022 Monitor receivables and prepare weekly payment recommendations while keeping organized electronic records for invoices, packing documentation, and fixed asset reporting. u2022 Review and reconcile employee corporate card activity, obtain missing support documentation, and maintain accurate expense records for traveling staff. u2022 Prepare management reports such as estimate-to-actual project comparisons, billable hour summaries, travel-related reporting, and other financial analyses using Google Sheets and Excel. u2022 Support vendor and customer account maintenance, including remittance distribution, account reconciliation, W-9 collection, and tax exemption certificate tracking. u2022 Contribute to office and business support activities, including supply coordination, assistance with employer-sponsored programs, and participation in future system implementation efforts as assigned. Requirements u2022 5+ years of accounting experience in a senior-level role with responsibility for general ledger activity, reconciliations, and month-end close. u2022 Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, tax-related processes, and cost accounting; cost accounting experience is highly preferred. u2022 Demonstrated experience with accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processing in a previous position. u2022 Hands-on expertise in journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. u2022 Proficiency in building reports and analyzing data in Google Sheets and Excel, including pivot tables and charts. u2022 Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain close attention to detail. u2022 Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with management, coworkers, customers, vendors, and external service providers. u2022 Ability to work onsite daily in St. Louis, Missouri and operate successfully in a small, team-oriented environment.
