Overview Senior SAP S/4HANA Functional Lead u2013 Procure-to-Pay & Retail (PMW220) Bowhead is seeking a Senior SAP S/4HANA Functional Lead. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leadership, driving functional design, integration strategy, and executive decision support across Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Food services and Retail domains within a large-scale S/4HANA transformation.This is a senior advisory role, not a configuration or transactional support position. The selected candidate will operate at the intersection of functional architecture, integration, and governance, shaping decisions that impact cost, schedule, audit posture, and mission outcomes. The ideal candidate brings a combination of: + Deep SAP functional expertise in Procure-to-Pay, Food preparation and food services along with Retail knowledge. + Strong understanding of DoD financial, logistics, and supply chain processes are desired + Ability to bridge functional, technical, and business domains + Confidence operating as a trusted advisor at the senior leadership level + A bias toward clarity, structure, and decision-driven outcomes This role is critical to ensuring ERP+ remains the authoritative financial and logistics control platform while enabling a disciplined and effective transition to SAP S/4HANA. The selected candidate will directly influence program direction, integration strategy, and executive decision-making. Responsibilities Advisory & Leadership + Advise Government leadership across all phases of the ERP+ lifecycle, providing expert guidance on SAP S/4HANA functional capabilities and solution design + Lead cross-command engagements to align stakeholders on Procure-to-Pay and Retail processes, priorities, and outcomes + Translate complex functional and technical concepts into clear, decision-ready materials for senior leadership and governance boards Functional Design & Integration + Lead end-to-end process design across Procure-to-Pay, Logistics, and Retail domains + Evaluate requirements against SAP S/4HANA standard capabilities, identifying fit/gap and recommended solution approaches + Drive integration alignment across Supply Chain, Finance, Data, Reporting, and external systems + Assess impacts of proposed changes to existing Navy ERP capabilities and downstream systems Governance, Risk & Decision Support + Lead functional governance activities to validate System Integrator designs and ensure alignment with SAP leading practices and DoD standards + Drive analysis of business drivers, cost/schedule impacts, and performance improvements to inform Government decisions + Identify and communicate risks, dependencies, and constraints impacting modernization efforts + Develop and refine business cases, COAs, and executive briefings supporting program direction ERP+ Modernization & Transformation Support + Support S/4HANA transformation activities across Enterprise Structure, Supply Chain, Logistics, Data, and Integration domains + Decompose and refine requirements into actionable functional and technical solution concepts + Evaluate design trade-offs and recommend approaches that balance standardization, flexibility, and long-term sustainment + Monitor key business and technical metrics, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions Qualifications Required: + Bacheloru2019s or Masteru2019s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or related field + Ten or more (10+) years SAP experience, with deep expertise in Procure-to-Pay within complex enterprise environments (DoD/Navy ERP strongly preferred) + Five or more (5+) years hands-on SAP S/4HANA experience, including participation in transformation or migration initiatives + Demonstrated expertise across SAP modules including MM, Retail, SD, and EWM + Strong experience leading cross-functional process design and integration discussions + Proven ability to develop and deliver executive-level briefings and decision support materials + Experience advising senior Government stakeholders and navigating complex governance environments Preferred + Experience supporting federal financial systems, audit readiness, and funds control frameworks + Familiarity with integration across Finance (FI/CO), Funds Management (FM), or Grants Management (GM) + Prior experience supporting Navy ERP or similar large-scale DoD ERP programs + Understanding of ERP modernization lifecycle, governance structures, and System Integrator oversight Additional Requirements + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities + Ability to operate independently while collaborating across distributed teams + Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Optional Proficiency with + Atlassian (Jira, Confluence) + Data Analytics (Databricks, Qlik, etc.) Target salary range is $220K to $250K depending upon experience. Physical Demands: + Must be able to lift up to 5 pounds + Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time + Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level.
