Yes County Albany Street Address Empire State Plaza City Albany State NY Zip Code 12242 Duties Description Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:u2022 Supervise and coordinate staff and design consultants in the planning, preparation and submission of contract documents, which include: drawings, specifications, permitting forms and estimates for single and multi-trade projects; coordinate workloads of staff; perform employee and consultant evaluations; develop and review reports; prepare work orders for design consultants; coordinate and attend meetings; resolve conflicts as they arise. u2022 Provide in-house design when required. u2022 Ensure that the contract documents are code compliant, comply with regulatory requirements, and conform to the OGS Design Standards and Procedures.u2022 Support construction projects and coordinate with field staff; attend construction phase meetings; review submittals. u2022 Respond to IBu2019s and RFIu2019s.u2022 Coordinate with and support client agencies. u2022 Be a subject matter expert on site related design and construction matters, materials, equipment and installation methods.u2022 Perform other duties as assigned.u2022 Perform the full range of supervisory duties.Preferred Quals:u2022 Knowledge and use of AutoCad and Bluebeam preferred.Operational Needs:u2022 Registered NYS Architectu2022 Travel may be required (approximately 20%). u2022 Possession and maintenance of a valid Driveru2019s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.Notes:There is no examination required for appointment to a NY HELPS position. Candidates hired via NY HELPS will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that NY HELPS employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.Salary Adjustments for Positions in AlbanyGeographic pay differential added to hiring salary = $7,000.The Office of the General Services (OGS) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agencyu2019s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OGS Design and Construction (D&C) will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employeeu2019s duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so. Upon approval to telecommute, OGS D&C employees may telecommute up to 4 days per pay period. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS) and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:Successful completion of Sections 1 and 2 of the New York Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) and one year of experience planning and designing landscape development and site improvement projects, and overseeing the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of outdoor spaces and other open areas for transportation facilities, buildings, parks, historic sites, recreational facilities, campuses, gardens, playgrounds, and roads and highways.ORCurrent New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Landscape Architect 1 and eligible for transfer under the Civil Service Law.OR52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP):If there are no more than three qualified candidates in the promotion field for this position, the agency will request approval from the Department of Civil Service to fill this position via a noncompetitive promotion (NCP) examination, pursuant to Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for the NCP, candidates must be a current New York State Office of General Services employee and must have one year or more of qualifying permanent service as an Assistant Landscape Architect and must not have failed the two most recent exams.Candidate must have New York State Professional Landscape Architect's License with current registration.NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
