Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) in Houston, Texas is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Staff Physicians to join our nationally recognized Spinal Cord Injury & Disorders (SCI/D) Service. The SCI/D Center in Houston is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the country, providing acute rehabilitation, medical/surgical management of chronic SCI, primary care for Veterans with spinal cord injuries, and lifelong interdisciplinary follow-up. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills in managing complex SCI patients, thrives in an interdisciplinary environment, and is committed to delivering high-quality, Veteran-centered care. Major duties and responsibilities include: Provide comprehensive outpatient and/or inpatient care to Veterans with spinal cord injury and spinal cord disorders, including traumatic and non-traumatic etiologies. Provide primary care services for Veterans enrolled in the SCI/D Primary Care Model. Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, including rehabilitation therapists, nurses, psychologists, social workers, urology, PM&R, neurology, surgery, and other specialties. Participate in the PM&R/SCI on-call schedule. Support the medical center's mission of education by supervising residents, fellows, and medical students as assigned. Engage in quality improvement initiatives, performance measures, and evidence-based practice aligned with VA standards. Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds, family meetings, and care coordination activities.
