Description Unitedu2019s Corporate Medical Director provides consultation for health-related initiatives to support Unitedu2019s commitment to safe operations. A large part of the Directoru2019s portfolio is related to pilots and compliance with the federal requirements for their health and wellbeing to ensure flight safety when returning to work from medical absences. The Corporate Medical Director is responsible for Unitedu2019s internal Employee Assistance Program for all employees and the Human Intervention Motivational Study (HIMS) program specific to pilots. The Corporate Medical Director collaborates on medical-related initiatives and represents Corporate Safety to provide medical expertise to operational, legal and labor relations groups. Unitedu2019s Corporate Medical Director maintains relationships and connections with external health organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control to identify and monitor global risks that could impact Unitedu2019s operations. This role works closely with Business Continuity Planning and Emergency Response to develop back-up plans and initiate responses to health-related disruptions such as pandemics or other diseases. The role engages medical experts within the aviation community by participating with organizations such a Airlines for America (A4A) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Unitedu2019s Corporate Medical Director supports the broader Corporate Safety organization and collaborates on strategies related to improving worker safety and preventing workplace injuries. + Provides oversight of pilot health programs including pilot Return to Work from medical absences. Aviation Medical consultant to help navigate compliance with pilot medical certificate requirements when pilots return to work. Provide expertise in pilot Fitness for Duty requests. Monitor and evaluate best practices for compliance with physical and mental health for all Unitedu2019s employees with an emphasis on flight operations. + Oversees Unitedu2019s internal Employee Assistance Program for all employees. Leads Unitedu2019s Human Intervention Motivational Study (HIMS) program which is a collaborative effort among airlines, unions (ALPA), and the FAA to support pilots with substance dependency through treatment, ongoing recovery, and return to safe flying. + Establishes, maintains, and directs the basic activities in vital statistics, communicable disease control, laboratory services, nursing services, nutrition, public health education, and any other applicable services of the health district. Works closely with Business Continuity Planning to identify and continually monitor health risks throughout the world and ensure plans are in place for highest risks. + Medical consultation regarding high level medical, legal and LR issues enterprise wide. Deliver effective medical management and consultation services for arbitrations; policy and grievance review; and CBA language development.Offer skilled consultation covering medical arbitration, reportable contagious disease notification; immunization review; Special Circumstance policy; medication/safety review; In-flight emergency kits; medical policy development; international travel review.United representative for medical committee issues at A4A/IATA and Aerospace Medical Association; interface with Corporate Communications for medical communication outreach. + Establish and recommend policies to prevent employee injuries and achieve Corporate Safety goals to effectively satisfy the delivery of communicable disease interface with the CDC and company policy; medical consultant services towards safety for FAA/DOT Issues; Emergency Operations Center consultation Qualifications Required: + Masteru2019s Degree or 6+ years of relevant work experience + Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner + 8 years of experience with corporate environment + 8 years of experience in the design, implementation, and administration of medical programs Preferred: + Aviation Medical Examiner + Occupational Medicine experience + AMA Membership + Aviation medicine experience + Occupational medicine experience The base pay range for this role is $201,400.00 to $262,250.00. The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
