Bachelor's 15 Additional Qualifications Certifications & Licenses - Master's degree in Engineering, Electronics or a related discipline; two (2) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor's degree is equivalent to a Master's degree. - Minimum of three (3) years of experience and training in machine shop practices. - Valid state driver's license Field of Study - Biomedical Engineering Software - MS Office Skills - Basic understanding of circuits and practical experience in the construction of same - Knowledge of quality control procedures, shop safety requirements and responsibilities - Practical knowledge of defective equipment used to identify needed repairs and purpose of unserviceable equipment on the basis of its condition - Skill in using and setting up machinist equipment. Statement of Work Details Designs and develops biomedical equipment. Work with staff on assignments associated with utilizing biotechnology to improve and provide healthcare systems and devices. Coordinates the testing and analysis process. Manage the control and accountability of clinical and other in-scope related computerized equipment. Tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements. Complete unscheduled service orders for equipment to include calibration, electronic and mechanical repairs. Monitors biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Analyze, modify, plan, install, evaluate, certify and correct system malfunctions Provides technical training on equipment operations. Provide in-services for staff, interns, students and support personnel. Other Design and fabricate commercially unavailable mechanical instruments and medical devices; fabricate special purpose devices for clinical and research applications; manufacture and repair special parts for various types of lab equipment, such as treadmills, body measurement machines, incubators, etc., and for various equipment in mechanical shop. 1 Fabricate and repair various equipment, requiring special skills in using but not limited to: lathes, milling machines, drill presses, band saws, sanders, grinders, as well as various power and hand tools; operate gas and electric welders, to include MIG and ARC, as well as acetylene gas welders. 2 Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, and photos to fabricate, manufacture, and/or repair using various power and hand tools, and other equipment. 3 Work collaboratively with scientific staff understanding their needs and identifying and resolving problems. Logically formulate and present plans, assessments, and recommendations orally and/Orin concise written reports/documents/correspondence
