About Representative Vargas: Rep. Vargas serves as the Chair of the Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Businesses and the Chair of MA Black and Latino Legislative Caucus. Job description: Receptionist Receptionist greets visitors and answers and correctly routes calls. Responds to internal and external inquiries and distributes accurate information. May perform some administrative activities such as scheduling, directing visitors, receiving and sending mail and packages. Performs other duties as assigned, Reports to: Staff Director Responsibilities: u00b7 Answer telephone and transfer calls; u00b7 Greet and direct office visitors; u00b7 Respond accurately to internal and external inquiries; u00b7 Monitor and maintain office supply inventory; u00b7 Utilize Microsoft Outlook; u00b7 Maintain paper and electronic files, generally; u00b7 May prepare office for meetings by consulting calendars and conferring with staff; u00b7 Responsible for sorting, screening and distributing incoming and outgoing mail; u00b7 Serve as the point of contact for issues that may arise with office equipment; u00b7 File and scan documents; u00b7 Recognize constituent achievements or events in district via letters, citations, etc. u00b7 Manage the Representativeu2019s inbox and all incoming constituent correspondence/questions. u00b7 Able to operate in a fast-paced professional office environment; handle or operate standard office equipment and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. u00b7 Ability to interact and work with diverse communities and personalities in a professional and helpful manner; u00b7 Proficiency with standard office equipment. u00b7 Ability to communicate with members and colleagues effectively and provide and receive feedback professionally; u00b7 Strong organizational skills including, but not limited to, calendar and email management and ability to prioritize tasks as needed; u00b7 Ability to follow-up and complete tasks. Preferred Education and Work Experience: u00b7 High School diploma with more than 2 years of professional work experience; or u00b7 Clerical training and/or certificate. u00b7 Prior legislative or related work experience for elected or appointed officials, advocacy groups or non-profit organizations is preferred. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, minimum of 37.5 hour per week position. Days of work are typically Monday through Friday. Hours vary and may include evening and weekend work to support the Memberu2019s legislative or constituent activities. The starting salary for this role will be determined pursuant to the Houseu2019s Employee Classification and Compensation Plan, which determines each employeeu2019s appropriate rate of compensation within the roleu2019s pay range based on their House experience.
