This role focuses on enhancing existingapplications, addressing technical debt, and contributing to there-architecture of services to improve scalability, security, andperformance. You will work on a small, experienced engineering team andare expected to operate independently while collaborating closely withother senior engineers. What You'll Be Working On Enhancing andextending Java-based applications that support complex calculation andrules-driven logic Modifying and optimizing compensation andcalculation structures to meet evolving business needs Refactoringand modernizing legacy components, with an emphasis on clean,maintainable code Supporting backend services with some exposure toUI-facing components Addressing technical debt and improving systemreliability, observability, and security Contributing to platformmodernization efforts, including containerization and cloud-baseddeployments Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain Javaapplications and APIs Collaborate with other senior engineers toimplement enhancements and system improvements Identify and remediatesecurity vulnerabilities within applications and dependencies Contribute to DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automatedtesting Support application monitoring and observability usingindustry-standard tooling Participate in code reviews and technicaldiscussions to maintain high engineering standards RequiredQualifications Strong hands-on experience as a Senior Java Engineerworking on enterprise applications Experience building and supportingAPIs and backend services Working knowledge of DevOps and testautomation practices Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines,including GitHub-based workflows Ability to independentlytroubleshoot, enhance, and refactor complex systems Experienceworking in small, fast-paced engineering teams Top Skills & Technologies Java (core language and backend development) API development andintegration CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions Cloud environments(AWS and/or Azure) Containerization and orchestration (Docker,Kubernetes, OpenShift) Messaging/streaming exposure (Kafka) Observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog) Security scanningand vulnerability remediation tools (e.g., Snyk) Automated testingframeworks Nice to Have Exposure to AI-enabled tooling or platforms Experience modernizing legacy Java applications Familiarity withperformance tuning for high-volume or rules-based systems Beacon Hill isan equal opportunity employer and individuals with disabilities and/orprotected veterans are encouraged to apply.
