IMANs work includes youth leadershipdevelopment; housing revitalization; leadership development andon-the-job training for formerly incarcerated; arts and cultureprogramming; food access interventions with inner city stores; a farmersmarket; and a Federally Qualified Health Center, which serves diverselow-income, uninsured, and underinsured residents of its service area,which is designated as a Health Provider Shortage Area, a MedicallyUnderserved Area, and a Food Desert.BASIC JOB FUNCTION:The Behavioral Health Specialist provides clinical therapy services topatients within a Federally Qualified Health Center. This is agrant-funded position in which the Behavioral Health Specialist workswithin an interdisciplinary team to provide holistic care primarilyonsite on our clinic, but on occasion, offsite at various communitylocations through our mobile unit. Due to the nature of the position, itwill have both administrative and direct patient care components.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:? Works in collaboration with the Director of Behavioral Health todevelop, implement, and administer service program protocols, policies,and procedures for the program.? Provides therapy to assigned caseload patients with a broad range ofmental health needs, including but not limited to mood disorders,substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, conduct disorders andtrauma/stress-related disorders.? Provides consultation to a multidisciplinary team for effectiveclinical intervention and ongoing support.? Provides direct short-term clinical therapy, case management,treatment and care coordination to patients consisting of individuals,families, couples and groups.? Conducts screening and psychosocial assessment, makes diagnosesconsistent with DSM disorders, creates and implements treatment plans,develops progress notes and facilitates crisis intervention.? Refers patients for internal and external case management and supportservices.? Familiar with relevant mental health resources including inpatientservices, outpatient services, peer support, and refers to supportservices as clinically indicated.? Renders evidence-based opinion regarding patients mental status,competency, safety risk, diagnosis and need for psychiatric treatment.? Provides immediate support and assistance during times of crises oremergency situations by responding to warm handoffs and serving asrotating on-call provider during clinic hours.? Assists with coordinating integration of behavioral health programmingwithin IMAN and its departments.? Provides representation at community events as required.? Utilizes a strength-based, culturally competent, and trauma-informedapproach to support patients in the treatment and recovery process.? Prepares and maintains accurate, thorough and timely mental healthrecords within the electronic health record system.? Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:? Must be able to provide counseling and case management services inSpanish and English and/or Arabic and English.? Experience with direct use of clinical techniques, interventions andphilosophies (ie. harm reduction, Motivational Interviewing, CognitiveBehavioral Therapy) for individuals, couples, family and groupcounseling.? Sound understanding of DSM criteria and how to apply these concepts todifferential diagnosis.? Ability to work within a multidisciplinar team, in a multiculturalsetting.? Strong time management, problem-solving and conflict resolutionskills.? Strong interpersonal skills.? Strong written and verbal communication skills.? Technology proficient in electronic medical records, Google apps(Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Meet,Google Docs, etc) and Zoom.? Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:? Licensed to practice and provide clinical therapy with an unrestrictedlicense in the state of Illinois preferred (LCPC, LCSW or LMFT license).? Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center in anoutpatient urban healthcare setting.? Experience providing trauma-informed clinical counseling services.?
