Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill a part time Professional Land Surveyor Consultant position in our Springfield, Illinois office. Position Profile This position will work within our Infrastructure Market in the Geospatial Discipline on right-of-way engineering projects for federal, state and local roadway projects. Position requires the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams to plan and execute projects for a variety of clients including local governments, state departments of transportation, and private industry throughout Indiana and beyond. It is important that this position can support project teams from initial planning through design to construction. Projects are likely to include reconstruction of major interstates and highways, urban and rural roadway rehabilitation, and replacements. This position is a midu2011 to senioru2011level role focused on applying advanced expertise, driving continuous improvement, and taking on increasing leadership and responsibility. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: Utilize provided calculations and computer software to prepare right-of-way parcel documents for client and work efficiently with other team members for accurate and quality document deliverables through to project completion. Design/support and preparation of right-of-way plans for state and local projects Collaborate with Senior Technical staff, Other duties as assigned. Preferred Specific skill set for include: u00b7 Experience with: Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, OpenRoads, Geopak Modeler (Legacy), or ESRI u00b7 Adhere to project deadlines and keep supervisory staff informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments. u00b7 Self-direct, plan, prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work assigned. u00b7 Read and comprehend recorded deeds, legal descriptions, surveys, subdivision plats and historical right-of-way plans codes and regulations, and technical information to develop drawings. u00b7 Maintain technical knowledge regarding computers, software, and design techniques. u00b7 Learn and adapt to new programs and adjust to changes in product and client demands. u00b7 Execute and adhere to quality assurance requirements. Field Survey skill set: u00b7 Lead/assist survey crew with land surveying and field data collection activities u00b7 Set up, operate, and maintain survey instruments and related equipment (GNSS/GPS equipment - RTK, static, and network-based systems) u00b7 Collect accurate measurements, observations, and location data (including: Field staking, layout, verification for construction projects, topographic, boundary, construction, and as-built surveys) u00b7 Mark and stake survey points according to project requirements u00b7 Record, organize, and verify field notes and measurements u00b7 Follow safety procedures and company standards while working outdoors u00b7 Collaborate with surveyors and project team members to ensure data accuracy LiDAR data collection using terrestrial, mobile, and/or UAV-mounted LiDAR systems Soft Skills: u00b7 Ability to work independently and as part of a team to develop and present concepts. u00b7 Must be able to build effective relationships with internal and external client bases. u00b7 Strong oral communication and technical writing skills. u00b7 Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines. u00b7 Clear communication with survey crews, engineers, and project managers u00b7 Ability to document field notes and survey observations accurately u00b7 Collaboration with office staff to ensure data consistency and completeness u00b7 Professional interaction with clients, contractors, and the public Working at Hanson: u00b7 Must be able to collaborate remotely with colleagues in other offices. u00b7 Candidate must be willing to accept out-of-town travel assignments and to work overtime to meet project demands. u00b7 Must possess a valid driveru2019s license As employers/governmental contractors, we comply with government regulations, including affirmative action responsibilities where they apply.
