This role is ideal for a teamu2011oriented nurse who thrives in a fastu2011paced critical care environment and has a passion for learning and clinical excellence. Schedule + Rotating day/night shifts (50/50 rotation) + 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM + Every other holiday rotation, with alternating holidays year to year Unit Overview The TNICU is a 16u2011bed unit located on the second floor of the patient care tower. This role carries responsibility, authority, and accountability for nursing care delivered to patients and families throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse demonstrates leadership through collaboration, partnership, communication, supervision, and the use of independent clinical judgment to achieve optimal patient outcomes. This includes an understanding of growth and development across the lifespan and the ability to assess, interpret, and respond to patient needs according to ageu2011specific requirements, departmental policies, and procedures. Required Qualifications + 0-2 years of nursing experience + BSN preferred + Strong clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problemu2011solving skills + Ability to apply and lead others in use of the nursing process + Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with: + Executives and leaders + Managers and physicians + Advanced practice providers + Ancillary and support staff + Patients and families + Ability to work effectively in a complex, fastu2011paced environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment + Physical ability to meet job demands, including: + Mobility and visual/manual dexterity + Frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients + Sustained physical stamina for bedside care Flexible Scheduling Opportunities UPMC offers a variety of flexible scheduling options. In addition to traditional rotating shifts, special programs are available for nurses who wish to work primarily night shifts or weekend shifts, offering premium pay differentials. + Eligibility requires a minimum of 6 months of nursing experience + Orientation may be required during regular business hours + Interested candidates should notify their recruiter during the interview process Licensure, Certifications & ClearancesRequired + Current Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in: + The state where the facility is located or + A compact state under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) + Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR (AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration) within 30 days of hire + Registered Nurse (RN) license or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) + Act 34 Clearance Graduate Nurse Requirements + Must complete the RN licensure examination: + Within 6 months of hire or + Within 1 year of graduation, whichever occurs first + Temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation + Failure to complete licensure within required timeframes may result in termination or demotion at the discretion of the business unit Preferred / Required Within Timeframe + UPMCu2011approved national certification (preferred) + ACLS within 1 year of hire or transfer + NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 6 months of hire or transfer Equal Opportunity Employer UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including individuals with disabilities and veterans.
